Ashley Iaconetti was born on March 6, 1988, in Great Fall, Virginia to Italian parents. Her father, Dr. Jay Iaconetti, is an anesthesiologist at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He once appeared on Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, the after-show to Bachelor in Paradise, through video call to support her. She has a sister named Lauren Iaconetti, who also appeared in Bachelor in Paradise. She currently lives in Wayne, New Jersey, and works in New York City as a freelance journalist for Cosmopolitan, where she writes about the Bachelor in Paradise.

She graduated from Langley High School in Northern Virginia in 2006 and then attended James Madison University for Media Arts and Design. She got her master's degree from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, New York. After graduating from Newhouse School, she worked as an intern at Syracuse's ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 WSYR.

After being eliminated from The Bachelor in its 19th season, she claimed that her feelings for the season's Bachelor, Iowa farmer Chris Soules, were genuine.
