Childhood & Early Life

Rachel Crow was born on January 23, 1998, in Colorado, US, to Kelly and Barbara. Rachel started developing an interest in music at the tender age of 3. Rumors claimed that she was adopted by Kelly and Barbara. However, such rumors have not been proved.

According to her parents, she started singing soon after she spoke her first words. This early interest led her to become increasingly inspired by the mainstream Hollywood lifestyle. Although singing was always her first career choice, she focused on her acting abilities too and performed in many plays during her elementary school days.

She started performing live at the age of 6 and exhibited incredible self-confidence, which also helped her when she auditioned for TV roles at the age of 7.

Although she was mostly rejected in the auditions, she did face the camera with the series ‘In from the Night’ and ‘Three Wise Guys.’ In 2010, she appeared in a tiny role in the TV movie ‘Pizza & Karaoke.’

Career

Her major career breakthrough happened in the year 2011, when the American version of ‘The X Factor’ debuted on TV. She performed the song ‘Mercy’ in her audition and both the judges and the audiences loved it. This early impression on the judges was expected to earn her sure-shot success in the show.

She performed beautifully during the early stages. However, she finally succumbed to pressure and was eliminated toward the end of the show. She was ranked 5th overall.

The loss did not hurt Rachel that much, as her scintillating performances and enigmatic screen presence had already made her a national star.

Soon after her ouster from the show, she announced that she had signed with ‘Columbia Records’ and that she would soon be releasing her debut EP, which would contain five songs. She also co-wrote one of the songs in the album.

She also announced that she had signed a deal with ‘Nickelodeon,’ a kids’ entertainment channel. Apart from that, she was part of the 2012 ‘Summer Tour’ of the band ‘Big Time Rush’ and acted in the TV series ‘Fred: The Show.’

In June 2012, Rachel’s ‘Twitter’ handle announced that the work on her album was almost complete and that it would be released by the end of the month. To her ardent fans’ joy, the EP, titled ‘Rachel Crow,’ was released on June 26, 2012.

The EP contained five songs and became an instant hit with the audiences and critics. One of the singles from the album, ‘Mean Girls,’ was particularly liked by her fans. The song was co-written by Rachel. For all the other songs, she relied on different music producers and writers.

The album released to a thunderous response from critics, with many of them calling it an “inspirational and passionate piece of work.”

She earned the honor of ‘Elvin Duran’s Artist of the Month’ and performed the single ‘Dime’ on the ‘Today Show’ on ‘NBC,’ to a national audience.

Apart from her singing abilities, she is also known for her acting talent. As she had already faced the camera before becoming popular, she had no problem transitioning to bigger roles. In 2012, she played the role of ‘Winnie’ in an episode of ‘Big Time Rush’ and she followed it up with a recurring appearance in ‘Fred: The Show.’

By 2014, she had already made her big-screen debut with the film ‘Rio 2,’ where she lent her voice to the character of ‘Carla.’ She eventually made her big-screen acting debut with the film ‘Invisible Sister,’ where she played ‘Nikki,’ the best friend of the female lead, ‘Molly.’

She then appeared in the ‘Netflix’ film ‘Deidra and Laney Rob a Train,’ where she played the titular role of ‘Laney.’ The film was a critical success and premiered at the ‘Sundance Film Festival,’ where it was highly appreciated.

In 2013, she appeared in an episode of the successful comedy series ‘The Office’ and played a major role in the series ‘Figure It Out.’ Presently, she is part of the cartoon series ‘Home: Adventures with Tip and Oh,’ where she lends her voice to the titular character of ‘Tip.’

In late 2017, it was announced that Rachel will be seen in ‘Bumblebee: The Movie,’ a spin-off of the ‘Transformers’ film series.
