The Meteoric Rise To Stardom
Before becoming a reality star, Masika Kalysha worked as a hostess for a while. She was not a very bright student. It was her father who recognised her talent as a child and encouraged her to join the show business. She worked hard to establish herself as an actress, model, singer and songwriter. She independently released three singles, ‘Bad’, ‘No More’ and ‘Hella Hollywood’ and linked up with Empire distributers.
Besides music, she starred in the Vivica A Fox production of the film ‘Three Can Play That Game’ and also had a role in the Playboy scripted series ‘7 Lives Exposed’ in the year 2013. However, it was ‘Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood’ reality show that made her famous. The show portrayed her actual life and the turmoil she went through with her then boyfriend, rapper Fatty Wap. After their break up in 2016, she took a break from the show for a while and came back as a single mother with a positive outlook to her life.
She appeared in music videos for Wake Flocka, Lil Wayne and Birdman, to name a few, and came out with her own song ‘My Own’ that is an inspiration to single mothers to face the world in their stride. The number brought her a massive following. She now plans to start a series on her vlog channel for single mothers. Masika was born on June 7, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America, where she was brought up with her brother and sister. She is of mixed African-European descent. As a child she was very close to her father. She has a daughter through her ex boyfriend, rapper Fetty Wap, who she has named Khari Barbie Maxwell. In fact, Fatty is a well known rapper and one of the reasons for bringing fame to Masika. Unfortunately, the relationship did not last long, as she felt Fatty would not make a good father. He had actually wanted her to abort and even refused to accept that he was the father of the child. She, on the other hand, was determined to have the baby and considered abortion to be murder.
She chose to be a single mother and went on to date another rapper, Gucci Mane. She has also dated James Rashid and musician, Yung Berg. However, she has been very protective about her daughter and has tried her level best to keep her out of all controversies. Despite their differences, Fetty Wap and Masika were seen together for their daughter’s first birthday on March 30, 2017. Besides her career as a star and an entrepreneur in her own right, Masika wants to be a good mother.
