Lauren Giraldo was born in Miami, Florida on 11th January 1998 into a middle class family. She grew up with her younger sister, Kristina Giraldo, who also happens to be a popular social media star. Their mother works at a children’s hospital.

Lauren was pretty much an active child and loved to try different things, especially mimicry and singing. She showed her potential at a very early age as she sang at family gatherings. The appreciation she got from her family members further boosted her confidence.

As a child, she enrolled into the musical theatre class and learned the basic nuances of acting and singing. In order to fulfil her dreams of working in the entertainment industry, she moved to Los Angeles to try her luck in Hollywood. Once she had a decent number of videos, her fan-base started growing at a very rapid pace. She was loud mouthed in her vines and her spontaneity was what the fans most loved about her. These positive traits had her earn more than 2.5 million subscribers within one year of her debuting on Vine, which was a very rare feat by any standards.

The confidence she earned on Vine played a major role in her decision to move to Los Angeles all by herself. At first, she struggled around a lot, and it became very hard for her to manage on her own. She did some odd jobs in order to make the ends meet and side-by-side, she kept adding videos to keep her fans updated about whatever was going on.

She collaborated with another viner Alexa Losey and they both came out with a video titled ‘Never Have I Ever’, which created a boom in Lauren’s subscriber base. As more social media stars and companies were making the full out of the booming industry, Lauren started getting offers and soon enough, she was seen as the main host of the show ‘Lady Bits with Lauren Giraldo’ for the Fullscreen network.

Other companies offered her several positions and Lauren ended up as the executive producer of the Latina docu series with Covert Media.

In the year 2016, she also starred in the vine series ‘Came Unplug’ as the main star. Her work was universally appreciated and as a result of this success, she won three nominations for Streamy Awards 2016.

Her success story invited several magazines to her doors and as of now, she has featured in the famous publications such as ‘Latina Magazine’, ‘Teen Vogue’ and ‘Seventeen’. With that, she cemented her place as a definite teen idol.

She is known to raise her voice towards women empowerment through her vines and she collaborates from time-to-time with other YouTubers and social activists who are working towards the same goal. However, the backside of this unabashed activism is the criticism she receives due to her lack of knowledge on several issues that she openly and harshly talks about.

In late 2016, Lauren shocked her fans with a sudden announcement of her musical tour, where she would perform on some original songs. She also released her debut single in January 2017 by the title ‘Only Lovers’.

Despite all the popularity that she has gathered working in social media space, making a career in music and films remains her main focus.

She has close to 5 million fans and followers on different social media platforms and she is certainly an international social media sensation. She has 366,425 subscribers on her YouTube channel and has more than 600k followers on her Twitter and Instagram profiles each.

Awesomeness TV announced that their upcoming clip show titled ‘Lauren against the Internet’ will change her perception among her fans. The show will premiere on Go90 and is presently under the post-production phase.

Lauren Giraldo is an active teenager, with a very close friend circle. She is also known to be highly secretive about her romantic relationships. But she has been very vocal about her relationship with her mother. She says that while her mother was initially unhappy with all the notoriety that she had gained, she eventually made peace with that as it was a normal everyday thing for the celebrities.

There had been rumours that Lauren had undergone a plastic surgery to make her face look more attractive. This was highly upsetting for her fans as she stood up for the complete opposite concerns in her vines, earning her the tag of a hypocrite. She wrote an open letter and denied the rumours.
