Kelly Preston is an American former model and actress who has appeared in over sixty television shows and films combined. She is popularly known for her works in ‘Mischief’, ‘Twins’ and in ‘Jerry Maguire’ alongside Tom Cruise. Born in Hawaii, Kelly had to move to Iraq as a young girl because of family reasons and then spent a lot of time in Australia. Career

Kelly Preston started her career with some commercials and minor roles in television and films. Her first big break came in 1985 when she was signed for the romantic comedy teen flick ‘Mischief’ for the role of ‘Marilyn McCauley’. Later she was signed for a similar project in the romantic comedy, ‘Secret Admirer,’ as ‘Deborah Ann Fimple’. Over the ensuing years she appeared in films, such as ‘SpaceCamp’ (1986), ‘Love at Stake’ (1987), ‘Amazon Women on the Moon’ (1987), ‘The Experts’ (1989), and ‘Cheyenne Warrior’ (1994).

In 2000 she appeared in the film ‘Battlefield Earth’, playing the girlfriend of the protagonist ‘Terl’ which was played by her husband John Travolta. Kelly was featured in Maroon 5 music video ‘She Will Be Loved’ in 2004, the video topped the chart and was commercially a success. It portrayed Kelly in a love relationship with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.

Personal Life

Kelly Preston was born as Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S. on October 13, 1962. Her mother was an administrator of a mental health center and her father worked in an agricultural firm. Unfortunately, he drowned when Kelly was just three years old. Later her mother married Peter Palzis, who adopted Kelly.

She moved to Iraq in her childhood and then to Australia with her family. She attended the Pembroke School in Adelaide and later went to Punahou School. She then enrolled at the University of Southern California to study drama.

Kelly Preston got married to actor Kevin Gage in 1985, but the marriage ended in less than two years in a divorce. She then dated George Clooney for a year or so and was also got engaged to Charlie Sheen for a short while. In 1991, she married John Travolta, whom she had met on the sets of ‘The Experts’. Together they had three children: Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin. Jett Travolta died of a seizure in 2009 when the family was on a vacation in the Bahamas. He had also suffered from the ‘Kawasaki disease’ and had autism.

She is an avid supporter of parents and children's rights, and also very vocal about drug, education, and environment related issues. She loves spending time with her family and kids.
