Who is Katrina Kaif?
Katrina Kaif is a British-Indian actress who has appeared as a leading lady in a number of Bollywood films. A foreigner, she had to suffer a lot of hardships to achieve fame. While she could hardly speak Hindi when she debuted, she dedicated herself to the task of refining her accent and now she not only memorizes her own lines, but also of her co-actors. No one who has ever worked with her can deny that she is one of the few hard-working people in the industry. Debuting with the multi-starrer crime thriller 'Boom', she went on to create successful on-screen pairs with co-actors Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor, with whom she has worked on multiple films over the years. She has also worked with many of the other Bollywood megastars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan. While she still does not own a house in India and works on a visa, she has earned a permanent place in the hearts of Indian movie fans for her charming appearance as well as strong performances.

Childhood & Early Life
Katrina Kaif was born as Katrina Turquotte on July 16, 1983 in Hong Kong to British-Indian businessman Mohammed Kaif and British lawyer and social worker Suzanne Turquotte. After her father moved to US leaving the family, her mother raised her and her seven siblings: elder brother, Michael; elder sisters, Stephanie, Christine, and Natasha; and younger sisters, Melissa, Sonia, and Isabel.
Her mother frequently moved from one country to another for her charity work, because of which she and her siblings were homeschooled. During her childhood, she spent months in places like Hong Kong, China, Japan, France, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium and Hawaii before settling in London.
Career
Katrina Kaif started her career as a model at the age of seventeen after winning a beauty contest in Hawaii, following which she started to appear at London Fashion Week. There, she was spotted by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who offered her a role in the 2003 erotic heist film 'Boom'.
In 2003, she walked the ramp at the India Fashion Week for fashion designer Rohit Bal and was featured in the first Kingfisher Calendar. However, she was dropped from the 2003 Mahesh Bhatt film 'Saaya' for her poor command over Hindi, but managed to bag a role in the Telugu film 'Malliswari' in 2004.
She started 2005 with a short role in the political thriller 'Sarkar' and later got her breakthrough role in the David Dhawan-directed romantic comedy, 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?', which earned her critical acclaim. While it was her first of many films with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, the next year she started another long-running collaboration with action hero Akshay Kumar with the film 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye'.
In 2007, she cemented her foothold in Bollywood with four successful films in which she went past her "adorable screen presence" to appear in substantial roles. She starred opposite Akshay Kumar in 'Namastey London', worked with the Deols in 'Apne', teamed up again with David Dhawan and Salman Khan in 'Partner', and appeared in 'Welcome' featuring an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar.
In 2008, she worked with Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna in Abbas-Mustan's action thriller 'Race' and again with Akshay Kumar in 'Singh Is Kinng', both of which earned her mixed to negative reviews. She was praised for her convincing portrayal of a cello player in her next film opposite Salman Khan, 'Yuvvraaj', for which she practiced with orchestra members, but the film failed at the box office.
To shed her "eye-candy" image, she appeared in the Kabir Khan-directed terrorism drama 'New York', starring John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh, which released in 2009. The film achieved critical and commercial success while Katrina Kaif was praised for her strong acting and was nominated for 'Filmfare Best Actress Award' for the first time.
In 2009, she made a guest appearance in another Akshay Kumar starrer, 'Blue', and starred opposite Ranbir Kapoor for the first time in the successful comedy film 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' She also appeared in another comedy film, 'De Dana Dan', starring Kumar.
She was part of the ensemble cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai in the 2010 blockbuster political thriller 'Raajneeti', in which her performance received positive reviews. That year she again teamed up with Akshay Kumar for the comedy film 'Tees Maar Khan', but the film failed at the box-office despite its superhit item song 'Sheila Ki Jawani', featuring her.
In 2011, she was paired with one of her favorite Bollywood actors, Hrithik Roshan, in Zoya Akhtar's multiple award-winning comedy drama, 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'. Later that year, she earned another 'Filmfare Best Actress Award' nomination for her role in the film 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'.
Following a special appearance in the item number Chikni Chameli from the 2012 Hrithik Roshan-starrer 'Agneepath', she acted opposite Salman Khan in the spy-thriller 'Ek Tha Tiger'. She next appeared alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan in veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra's final film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'.
Her only film in 2013 saw her appear as a circus performer opposite Aamir Khan in the Blockbuster action thriller 'Dhoom 3', a role for which she prepared for a year. In 2014, she worked with Hrithik Roshan in 'Bang Bang!', the remake of the American action comedy 'Knight and Day'.
She had one release in 2015, the counter-terrorism drama 'Phantom' starring Saif Ali Khan, followed by two releases the next year, 'Fitoor' and 'Baar Baar Dekho'.
Her upcoming films include 'Jagga Jasoos' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai' in 2017, and 'Thugs of Hindostan' in 2018.

Katrina Kaif, who accepts that superstar Salman Khan had a huge influence in her professional as well as personal life, reportedly dated the actor between 2003 and 2010. Their relationship suffered after her closeness to actor Ranbir Kapoor was revealed by the media.
While both Katrina and Ranbir denied their closeness initially, pictures of them spending a holiday together in Ibiza were leaked by 'Stardust' magazine in 2013. The two later broke up in 2016, following which she sparked rumors of dating Salman Khan by posting intimate pictures on social media while shooting a film together.
Trivia
While Katrina Kaif has maintained that she adopted her estranged father's surname to connect to the Indian audience, Ayesha Shroff, the producer of her debut film ‘Boom’, revealed that the surname was made up.
