William Singe is an Australian singer, songwriter and producer, whose professional career got a kick-start when he became one of the members of a boy band named ‘The Collective’. The creation of ‘The Collective’ boy band coincided with the fourth season of ‘The X Factor Australia’ that was telecasted in 2012. Singe is singularly noted for posting cover songs of original soundtracks reinforced with elements of rap, hip-hop, and R&B, on Facebook and YouTube. Singe’s online videos have been downloaded zillions of times and the footages have helped the singer build a whopping virtual fan base. He has about 3 million followers on Facebook, more than 1 million fans on YouTube, and his acoustic covers have registered nearly 65 million streams on ‘Spotify’-a popular video, podcast, and music streaming service. The five band members of ‘The Collective’ remained a close-knit group for almost 3 years, participating in umpteen concerts, and after William left, the group disbanded. Singe was at his prolific best for three years in a row—2014, 2015, and 2016—when he recorded cover songs, set off on an international musical tour, and entered into a contract with RCA Records. While inking the deal with RCA, he commented that he was “incredibly excited for what 2017 brings”.

Career
William Singe who considers his father as his role-model, and is renowned for his seductive vocals and spectacular high-pitched falsettos, first came into limelight while auditioning for the 3rd season of ‘The X Factor Australia’, in 2011. However, his progress was halted when he could not go beyond the bootcamp stage. Singe had been recording music since he was a child, and accompanied his father for performing in shows at a bar-cum-restaurant called ‘In Situ’ in ‘Manly’-a beachfront suburb of North Sydney.
Singe again signed up for auditioning in the 4th season of ‘The X Factor Australia’ in 2012, and sang Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl” which visibly impressed the judges. ‘Mel B ’of‘ Spice Girls’, who was one of the judges, felt as if William was crooning for her sake. The rap lyrics that Singe had superimposed on the original song were composed by him which ‘Guy Sebastian’ another judge, felt were simply ‘crazy’.
Singe’s stellar performance propelled him to the ‘super bootcamp’ leg of the nationwide singing competition. However, he could not go beyond that stage which would have pitched him with 5 other top contestants in the ‘Under-25 Boys’ grouping. The judges then helped form the ‘The Collective’ boy band where Singe was the rapper, and other members included Jayden Sierra, Zach Russell, Julian De Vizio, and Trent Bell. The band finished third in the competition and subsequently inked a recording deal with ‘Sony Music Australia’.
‘The Collective Boy’ came up with its eponymous mini-album on 14 December 2012. The mini-album opened at the 11th position on the ‘ARIA Albums Chart’ and also won gold certification. In 2013, William Singe appeared in a single recording of Bella Ferraro’s single “Forgot You” that ultimately attained 75th rank on the ‘ARIA Singles Chart’. Incidentally, Bella Ferraro contested in ‘X Factor Australia’ along with Singe.
On 18 February 2015, William Singe declared on Facebook that he was leaving the boy band to kick start his career as a soloist. He excelled as a solo vocalist, recording acoustic covers of soundtracks originally sung by the likes of Justin Bieber, Alessia Cara, Fetty Wap, TLC, Adele, and Drake. William recorded and uploaded the cover videos from his bedroom.
Singe successfully uploaded 50 such videos in 2015 alone, and in that year, his Facebook fan base increased to more than 2 million. A recognized, US-based entertainment outfit, Paradigm that had contracted many celebrated singers including Austin Mahone, Black Eyed Peas, Sia, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran, inked a recording deal with Singe, in 2015.
William Singe’s cover footage of Drake’s number “Hotline Bling” turned out to be the most admired video recorded by him. The video which amassed nearly 25 million views on Facebook and YouTube went on to claim the number 1 spot on ‘US Viral 50 Chart’ endorsed by Spotify. Since the time, Singe first auditioned for the Australian reality television music competition, he has fine-tuned his skills as a singer, songwriter, and producer as well as built up a steadfast fan following.
In 2016, Singe negotiated a deal with ‘RCA Records’ and on February 3, 2017, he released his first solo single named ‘Rush’.
