Sadie Sink was born on April 16, 2002, in Brenham, Texas, to a sportsperson father and a homemaker mother. Her father coached local football teams in the US. She grew up with three brothers.

She started acting at a tender age. She grew up watching TV shows. One of her favorite movies was ‘High School Musical.’ The ‘Disney’ movie had a great influence on her psyche. It made her develop a lifelong crush on actor Zac Efron and also made her dream of becoming an actor.

She grew up in Brenham, a little town with a keen interest in sports. Apart from being involved in sports, she joined a local community theater to fulfil her goals of acting in front of a large group. In several of her early stage productions, she appeared on stage with her real-life brother, as she felt more comfortable with him.

In 2012, she auditioned for a ‘Broadway’ show titled ‘Annie’ and earned the role. She was just 10 years old then and the experience proved to be highly rewarding for her.

The family moved to New Jersey shortly after, and this was another boost to Sadie’s career aspirations. Soon after she landed in the big city, she started training in dance and vocals, in order to perform better at musicals and ‘Broadway’ shows.

She became busy after stepping into her teenage years. While managing her academics, she also devoted time to theater. At one point in time, she was doing eight shows a week.

By the time she was 13 years old, she had already started auditioning for several TV and film roles. Her ‘Broadway’ performances also helped her bag some early roles. She made her screen debut in 2013, with the small role of ‘Lana’ in an episode of the series ‘The Americans,’ titled ‘Mutually Assured Destruction.’

Although her role in the series was small and she appeared on screen only for a few scenes, it was beneficial for her in a major way. The spy-thriller series was one of the most critically and commercially acclaimed series of the year.

She then appeared in a slightly better role in the series ‘Blue Bloods.’ She played the role of ‘Daisy Carpenter’ in one of its episodes, ‘Insult to Injury.’ The police-procedural series was a success. It was filmed mostly in the suburbs of New York, closer to Sadie’s house in New Jersey.

Her successful acting career made it hard for Sadie to manage her studies with her stage and screen performances. Her mother did not allow her to compromise on her academics, and this made Sadie go through a tough time.

In 2015, she earned the first breakthrough role of her career. She was offered one of the lead roles in the series ‘American Odyssey.’ She played the role of the daughter of the leading couple. Her character, ‘Suzanne Ballard,’ appeared in 11 episodes of the series.

The political thriller premiered in 2015 and ran for a season. Despite earning some positive feedback, it mostly managed to get average reviews. ‘NBC’ decided to cancel the series due to its increasing budget. However, Sadie’s role in the series laid the foundation for her next series, which turned out to be a life-altering role for her.

In 2016, she made her big-screen debut with the role of ‘Kimberley’ in the biographical drama ‘Chuck,’ which was based on the life of boxer Chuck Wepner. The film had its world premiere at the ‘Venice Film Festival.’ It earned a lot of positive reviews from critics when it released in the US in 2017.

She was already a fan of ‘Stranger Things’ when she got a call for the audition for a role in the series, in September 2016. Sadie was not sure if her audition had gone well. She was at school when her mother informed her about the selection. Sadie had to undergo a slight physical transformation for her role. She also took skateboarding classes to get into the skin of her character, ‘Maxine “Max” Mayfield.’

Sadie began her stint with the show in its second season. She played a tomboy and the crush of two of the leading boys in the series. The series was a huge international success and catapulted Sadie to international fame.

‘Netflix’ has announced that the series will return for another season and that Sadie will probably be a part of that, too. Sadie and the remaining cast of the series have been nominated for the ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ for ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series’ and the ‘MTV Movie & TV Award’ for the ‘Best On-Screen Team.’

In 2017, she appeared in a biographical drama film titled ‘The Glass Castle,’ which was based on the memoir of Jeannette Walls. Sadie played the role of a young ‘Lori Walls’ in the film. The movie earned mixed reviews from critics.

In 2018, she lent her voice to a documentary film titled ‘Dominion.’ She is also set to appear as ‘Haley’ in the film ‘Eli,’ which is slated for a 2019 release.

Sadie Sink has been a vegetarian ever since she met actor Woody Harrelson on the sets of her film ‘The Glass Castle.’ She became friends with Woody on the set and was greatly influenced by his environment-friendly lifestyle.

Sadie had once claimed to be a big fan of actor Emma Stone and had expressed her desire to work with her.
