Who could imagine that a person would turn the lowest phase of their life into budding stardom? Yet, Nik did just that! While undergoing a series of surgeries on his legs, hips and ankles, Nik made a video of himself in a wheelchair cursing nonchalantly to a tune. Two months later the video went viral, surfacing on all social media platforms: it turned out that it was not just Nik but also millions of others who found it equally hilarious! Once his videos took off, he received recognition which made the realization of his dream come true. Nik said as he was interviewed by ‘Paper Mag’ that his success was like, “I went from a really low point to the highest I've ever been. I'm still shocked that I was able to do it.” The significant reason that makes his videos click is that they are original.

With a ‘Never Say Die’ attitude, Nik stands as an icon to several who are struggling with social, emotional and physical unacceptance. Giving himself the nickname of ‘Big’ Nik was enough for him to crush the social stereotypes. With a height of just around three feet, Nik showed the world that it doesn’t take inches but - wit and humility to rise to the occasion. What makes him even more amiable is his dedication to avoid being swayed by all the glam that his videos have attracted. He is a focused and dedicated student. In fact, what he learns as a film student is incorporated in his videos to make them better. He saves all the revenue from his endorsements and video clips for his studies.

When asked about the impact fame has had on him, Nik mentions that life will never be the same. When he uploaded his first video he had no clue that his world would change so drastically; he sometimes wishes that he could have had plenty more experiences before becoming prominent. However, he humbly owes all that he is to social media. He believes that he wouldn’t be as confident and optimistic if it weren’t for his social media success. When not ‘Vining’ he studies and spends time with his friends. He loves to play videogames. Nik has not let his ordeals get the better of him; he dedicates his fitness regime to his favorite sport tennis and swimming.

Nik was born to parents of Indian origin in the US. His mother has a medical degree and is a practicing optometrist and his father is also a medical professional. His family is modern and open-minded. Nik has two sisters, Sarina and Devina, of who Devina is a transgender. It was initially difficult for Nik to accept the fact that he no longer had a brother. He wanted to live his dream of playing sports that he never got to through his younger brother. Thus he was confused after learning that Devina was a transgender. He often speaks of still being unable to come up with the right answers for questions that are attributed to his sister’s sexuality, but he vouches that he knows exactly how to support her.

BigNik has an old YouTube channel that he has never revealed. The videos on this account are all private. He used to make these one minute long videos as a kid with his best friend in Chicago.
