Imani Hakim - Actresses, Career and Family

Imani had chosen acting as her career path at the age of seven. She enrolled in the Karamu House Theater, a historic house theatre school in Cleveland. There, she became part of various stage performances watching and acting with senior, and experienced actors. Later, she enrolled in the Young actor’s space school in Burbank. 8Her TV debut was through a commercial for McDonalds. In 2005, she hit her major breakthrough when she signed for the role of Tonya Rock in the comedy hit series ‘Everybody hates Chris’. She was just 11 then. The series carried from 2005 up till 2009. Between this periods, she also acted in other TV shows for short roles. Some of them were CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Replacements, ER and Wizards of Waverly Place.

She also made her film debut in the same period in the film ‘Reign Over Me’. This was a very short role. In 2015, she appeared in the film Chocolate City as Carmen. This was a comedy drama. The sequel of Chocolate City also features her in the same role. It is about to be released in 2017. Meanwhile, she also played the title role of Gabby Douglas in the 2014 film, The Gabby Douglas story. In 2016, she played the role of Gabrielle in Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.

Imani considers acting as her whole and her soul. She gives acting her top most priority. She wants to be challenged in the field of acting as well as in the real life as she loves challenges. According to her, challenges push you up to your limits and enhance you into better people. She wants to grow as an actor and explore new characters, new films and new things. She has a clear approach of looking at things with her own perspective. She wants to make the impossible possible and this attitude is what makes her so special.

Imani was born in Cleveland, Ohio in the United States. She was raised by her father. She has five brothers. She is proud of her father and states that he has made great sacrifices for her. She addresses her television colleagues as her own family. She is a very big fan of Raven Symone, the American actress, singer and songwriter. She is so passionate about acting that when she was asked what she would do if not acting, she replied that she would still be an actress.

She loves challenges and thinks that they are a necessity in life. Her hobbies include dance, music, reading and Martial Arts. She is devoted to the African culture considering her African origin. She likes to keep her personal life to herself and does not reveal much about it.
