The film, where he played the lead role, was a huge success. Other works that gained him prominence include his lead role in the horror film 'Silver Bullet' and the comedy film 'Snowboard Academy'. In addition to his work in films, Haim was also known for his work on television. His first role on television was that of a supporting character in the Canadian children's TV show 'The Edison Twins'. Childhood & Early Life

Corey Ian Haim was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 23rd December 1971. His parents were Judy and Bernie Haim. He also had an older sister Carol. His parents divorced when he was eleven. He later had a half-brother from his father’s second marriage, who was named Daniel.

Haim used to be shy as a child. His parents saw acting classes as a way of helping him overcome his shyness. He had a keen interest in sports as well.

Career

Corey Haim started acting from the early age of ten. He played a supporting role in the Canadian children's TV show 'The Edison Twins'. It aired from 1982 to 1986. He made his film debut in 1984, with a supporting role in the American thriller 'Firstborn'. The film was directed by Michael Apted.

The following year, he played minor roles in the films 'Secret Admirer' and 'Murphy's Romance'. These roles helped him increase his popularity and gain the lead role in the American horror film 'Silver Bullet.' Directed by Dan Attias, the film was commercially successful.
