Christen has always been interested in make-up and fashion. She spent a major part of her childhood, watching fashion shows and make-up tutorials. Without any professional training, she acquired knowledge on make-up and started working on her skills. She finally decided to showcase her skills, and in February 2009, she created her self-titled YouTube channel.
Initially, she was hesitant about creating a channel as she was worried about her viewers’ reactions. But her channel became famous as soon as it was created, for her make-up methods were easy and required no special skills. Her first video was a tutorial on using lip liner and lipstick in order to make the lips appear plump.
As she improved her skills, her videos got better in terms of quality and information. She did a three-part video in which she reviewed a proactive acne solution. She actually used the product on herself to cure her acne. Next, she started posting a series of skincare routine which also included skincare routine for different seasons.
Christen then took her make-up skills to the next level when she started posting videos that taught her viewers a few make-up tricks to look like movie stars. She posted tutorials to look like Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and many other stars. She became famous in India when she posted a make-up tutorial which was inspired by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s look at the Cannes Film Festival.
Among all her video series, the most popular series was titled as ‘Drugstore Makeup Tutorial’. In addition to that, she has done numerous make-up tutorials using minimal make-up products. She then posted several videos titled ‘Vampire Halloween Makeup Tutorial,’ ‘Monster High Frankie Stein Makeup Tutorial,’ ‘Joker Suicide Squad Makeup Tutorial,’ etc.
Her most popular collaboration happened when she joined hands with Patrick Simondac, one of the most renowned make-up artists. Apart from him, she has collaborated with YouTubers like Sylvia Gani, Chloe Morello, Chrisspy, Sarahi and Jake Warden. Christen's ‘makeup do’s and don’ts’ series was appreciated by those who were looking for a professional make-up look. In the series, she shared ways to avoid cakey foundation and also shared a trick to avoid the lipstick from getting smudged.
When she started reviewing make-up products, many high end brands including Huda Beauty, Fenty Beauty, Too Faced, Bobbi Brown and MAC approached her to review their products. She has also reviewed Patrick Simondac’s range of cosmetics which he launched in collaboration with MAC.
Christen has graced many events with her presence, including prominent events like Cannes Film Festival and the 3rd Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards. Many of her videos have been honored by YouTube by presenting her with silver and golden buttons. In April 2017, Christen secured the ninth position on the list of ‘Top Influencers in Social Media’ which was issued by Forbes magazine. Christen launched her own range of cosmetics in 2018. The first product that she launched was an eyeshadow palette. She even announced a giveaway along with her first product.
She then had a verbal brawl with her fellow YouTuber, Laura Lee. They both exchanged nasty comments on Instagram and snapchat. Laura Lee accused her of copying her videos and told her that she deserves no appreciation.
