Childhood & Early Life

Brian Austin Green was one of the three children born to Joyce and George Green in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California. His father was a country and western musician by profession.

He belonged to the Scottish, Irish, and Hungarian descent and spent much of his early life in North Hollywood, Los Angeles and California.

Being son of a musician, his interest in the world of music began to develop quite naturally. Soon, he became interest in the overall profession of performing arts.

When he was nine, following the advice of his parents, he took up Austin as his middle name because there was another actor named Brian Green in the Screen Actors Guild.

He completed his formal education from North Hollywood High School after which he attended the Hamilton High School Academy of Music.

Career

His first ever stint at acting was for a film directed by a University of Southern California student. He was merely 11 years old then. The early exposure to acting led him to pursue a career in the same.

His first professional debut came in 1986 when he was cast to portray the role of ‘Brian Cunningham’ for the CBS prime time soap opera ‘Knots Landing’. The series bought him much fame and appreciation for his portrayal. It lasted until 1989.

In 1990, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ happened to him. He was primarily cast for the role of ‘David Silver’ as his personality quite resembled that of the character. In fact, producer Aaron Spelling claimed to have scripted the character on most occasions to reflect the former’s interest. Silver was a rich but geeky high school student who constantly craved for acceptance by the popular clique.

The series, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ lasted for a decade until 2000. Through the years of run time, the character developed much fan following essentially due to his great portrayal of the character.

It was while portraying the role of ‘David Silver’ in ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ that he moved back to his first love, music. He attempted for a career in rapping and came up with his debut hip-hop album titled, ‘One Stop Carnival’ in 1996.

Interestingly, the character of David Silver also began experimenting with hip hop music and DJing at the same time.

In 1997, he reprised his role of Brian Cunningham for the television miniseries of the CBS popular prime time drama, which was titled, ‘Knots Landing: Back to Cul-de-Sac’.

Furthermore, he also appeared in several television movies, such as ‘Her Costly Affair’ and ‘Unwed Father’ and guest-starred on other shows such as ‘Saved by the Bell: The College Years’, ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch’, ‘Growing Pains’, ‘Parker Lewis Can't Lose’, ‘Melrose Place’, ‘Fantastic Four’, ‘MADtv’, ‘Biker Mice from Mars’ and ‘Malibu Shores’.

Following the end of his breakthrough success program ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, he appeared in the Showtime drama series, ‘Resurrection Blvd’ playing the character of Luke Bonner, a police officer attending law school. He continued the show from 2001 to 2004.

From 2005 to 2006, he appeared in a guest role in a number of shows including ‘The Twilight Zone’, ‘Las Vegas’ and ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’. Other than television series, he made an appearance in the Toy Scott film, ‘Dominos’. He then appeared in a horror short called ‘Grace’

In 2008, he played the role of Derek Reese in ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’, a resistance fighter. Though initially roped in as a temporary cast, he was soon made permanent and became the series regular. His role was much appreciated by critics and fans.

Additionally, he guest starred in the finale of the ‘CSI: Miami’ as Anthony Green and The CW's new drama pilot ‘Body Politic’. He even appeared in the television series, ‘Saturday Night Live’.

In 2009, he was cast as John Corben/Metallo in ‘Smallvile’ in which he appeared in three episodes in the ninth season from 2009 to 2010. The three episodes in which he appeared include ‘Savior’, ‘’Upgrade’ and the finale season episode, ‘Prophecy’.

The following year, he played a guest role in the multi-episode story arc on the ABC series ‘Desperate Housewives’. Subsequently, he was seen as a superhero Callan in the Patrick Durham-directed movie Cross, which was released on DVD.

In 2012, he appeared in a guest role of Sean, boyfriend of Charlie’s ex-wife Jen, in the sitcom ‘Anger Management’. The episode created history as it recorded 5.74 million viewers on its series debut night and has been ranked as the most-watched sitcom premiere in cable history. He further appeared in yet another episode in the show before being a series regular in 2013.

His other work engagements include guest starring in the episode finale of second season of ‘Happy Endings’, first episode of the third season of ‘Cazsh Dummy Spillionaires’ and in the TBS comedy ‘Wedding Band’.

Personal Life & Legacy

During the ‘Beverly Hills’ days, he was in a romantic relationship with Tiffani Thiessen and later Vanessa Marcil, with whom he fathered a son Kassius Lijah.

It was in 2004 that he started dating actress Megan Fox. Two years henceforth, they became officially engaged only to get wedded in 2010 in a private ceremony. The couple has been blessed with two sons - Noah Shannon Green and Bodhi Ransom Green
