William Mark Fagerbakke, popularly known as Bill Fagerbakke, is an American actor and voice actor. He is best known for his work in the hugely popular animated series ‘SpongeBob Squarepants’ which airs on Nickelodeon. The show, which has been airing for over 18 years, has found massive success and has won many awards including two Emmy Awards and six Annie Awards. Other works he is known for include his role in the American situational comedy series ‘Coach’ where he played the role of Michael Dybinski. Fagerbakke has also appeared in several movies throughout his career. Given his success as an actor, it might come as a surprise to many that acting was not his first career choice. As a youngster, the actor was more interested in sports and was hoping to make it big as a sportsman. However, fate had other plans in store for him. An injury ended his sporting ambitions and the young man pursued acting as an alternate career path.

Bill Fagerbakke made his film debut in 1984 with a minor role in the film ‘Perfect Strangers’. It was directed by Larry Cohen. Other films he was seen in over the next few years include ‘The Secret of My Success’ (1987) and ‘Loose Cannons’ (1990).

His first significant work on television was of the main role in the series ‘Coach’ which aired from 1989 to 1997. Fagerbakke played the role of Michael Dybinski in the series. The series was a success and won several awards including two Emmys.

In 1994, he voiced one of the main characters in the animated TV series ‘Beethoven’. The same year, he played an important role in the miniseries ‘The Stand’. It was based on a book of the same name by Stephen King. King played a minor role himself in the series. Fagerbakke was seen in several TV shows as well as animated shows over the years, such as ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’, ‘Dumb and Dumber’, ‘Oz’, and ‘The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy’.

Bill Fagerbakke was born on 4th October 1957, in Fontana, California, in the US. He later moved to Rupert, Idaho, where he studied at Minico High School. He was a very proficient athlete who excelled in sports, such as football, baseball, and track.

Due to his excellence in sports, Fagerbakke received multiple offers for college football scholarships. He decided to attend the University of Idaho in Moscow, where he played as a defensive lineman for the Vandals. Though his athletic career was going quite well, it ended after he suffered a knee injury. He then began his acting career with a role in the play ‘Godspell’. He also pursued his further education at the Southern Methodist University.

He married Catherine McClenahan in 1989. The couple has two children. The marriage, however, broke up and they separated in 2012.
