Who is Alejandro Gonzalez Inãrittu?
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarittu is an illustrious Mexican film director, producer, and screenwriter who won universal acclaim for directing movies like ‘Birdman’, ‘ The Revenant’, ‘Babel’, and ‘Amores Perres’. He overwhelmingly proved that he was a director par excellence when he bagged ‘The Oscars’ for two years in a row for ‘Birdman’ (Best Original Screenplay, Best Picture, and Best Director) and ‘The Revenant’ (Best Director). Alejandro is regarded as one of the ‘three amigos (friends) of cinema’, the other two being Mexican film directors Alfonso Cuarón and Guillermo Del Toro. He was instinctively drawn towards music from an early age and whetted his penchant for melodies to the hilt by deejaying in the hotspots of Mexico City during his twenties. Soon after, he started working as a radio host at the Mexican radio station WFM and graduated to producing shows, and creating commercials for the small screen. Some years later, he established, Zeta Films—a production company—which offered him the leeway to make telefilms and advertisements in his own way. However, Alejandro’s ultimate objective was to make it big on the silver screen and he began moving in that direction by composing music for several Mexican full-length movies. The turning point in his career came when he directed his debut Mexican feature film, ‘Amores Perros’ which earned an Academy Award nomination, and thereafter, he went from strength to strength.
