Shaun Cassidy is an American television producer, screenwriter, former actor, and singer. The son of prominent actors and singers, he ventured into the field of entertainment quite early on. He began his career as a singer and achieved much success with his numerous albums and singles. He was elevated to the status of a teen idol and earned millions of fans worldwide. His popularity as a singer motivated him to try acting as well. During his acting career in the 1970s and 1980s, he was part of popular shows like ‘The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries’, ‘Breaking Away’, and ‘General Hospital’. He later shifted his focus from acting to screenwriting and production from the late 1980s. He has written scripts for television movies and shows like ‘Midnight Run for Your Life’, ‘American Gothic’, ‘Roar’, ‘Cover Me: Based on the True Life of an FBI Family’, ‘Invasion’ and ‘Hysteria’. With time, he went on to work as an executive producer as well.

Singing Career
Shaun Cassidy was very passionate about singing from his high school days and he signed a contract with Mike Curb's division of Warner Bros. Records and started his recording journey. His debut album ‘Shaun Cassidy’ (1976) was first released in Europe and Australia where it became a major hit. Later on, it was released in the US as well. The album became an instant hit in the US and the single ‘Da Doo Ron Ron’ from the album topped the Billboard Charts and Cassidy was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
His next Album ‘Born Late’, written by Eric Carmen, was also a big hit as it peaked at No. 6 on the US Top 200 Albums chart. The album had several hit singles including ‘Hey Deanie’ which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard. After delivering two hot albums, Cassidy somewhat lost his appeal as his third album ‘Under Wraps’ failed to live up to its expectations. It peaked at No. 33 on the US Top 40 and no single from the album other than ‘Our Night’ could break into the US Top 100. The next album ‘Room Service’ fared even worse as it could not even get into the Top 200.
Television Career
In the late 1970s, Shaun Cassidy decided to get into the show business and he appeared in ‘The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries’, a television mystery series based on the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew novel series. He featured in the popular television movie ‘Like Normal People’ in 1979 and later featured in the American comedy-drama television series ‘Breaking Away’ between 1980 and 1981.
He landed a regular role in the American daytime television medical drama ‘General Hospital’, appearing in the 1987 season. He also appeared in one episode of the American crime drama television series ‘Murder, She Wrote’. In 1988, he acted in two television movies, ‘Once Upon a Texas Train’ and ‘Roots: The Gift’, as well as in one episode of ‘Matlock’. He retired from acting that year.
In the ensuing years, he focused only on scriptwriting and producing television shows. He wrote the scripts of several shows which he produced as well, including ‘American Gothic’ (1995), ‘Roar’ (1997), ‘Cover Me: Based on the True Life of an FBI Family’ (2000-01), ‘The Agency’ (2001), ‘’ The Mountain’ (2004-05), ‘Invasion’ (2005-06), ‘Ruby & the Rockits’ (2009), ‘Hysteria’ (2014), and ‘Emerald City’ (2016).

Shaun Paul Cassidy was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 27, 1958, to Jack Cassidy and Shirley Jones, two renowned professional actors. Cassidy has two siblings, Patrick Cassidy and Ryan Cassidy, as well as a half-brother David Cassidy, all of whom are involved in the show business. Cassidy graduated from the Beverly Hills High School.
Cassidy has been married thrice in his life. His first marriage to Ann Pennington in 1979 ended in a divorce in 1993. They had two children together: Caitlin Cassidy, born on 25 November 1981, and John Cassidy, born on 27 February 1985.
In 1995, he married Susan Diol, an actress by profession, and welcomed their daughter Juliet on March 19, 1998. The couple divorced in 2003. His third marriage to producer Tracey Lynne Turner took place on 28 August 2004.
