Lincoln Davis is a member of the Democratic Party in the United States of America and the former U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 4th congressional district. He also owns a construction business, ‘Diversified Construction Co’, and is one of the most successful and well-to-do businessmen in Pall Mall, Tennessee. He made headlines for his opposition of the Federal Marriage Amendment, a bill that created a lot of controversy in the United States with respect to gay marriage, divorce laws and adultery. He is also known for his opposition to the Wall Street bailout and cap-and-trade legislation. He worked hard to allocate more federal money towards the abandoned coal mines of Tennessee. Childhood & Early Life

Lincoln Davis was born in Pall Mall, Tennessee and was raised in the rural part of Fentress Country, the coal mining region of the state.

In 1996, he graduated from the Tennessee Technological University with a degree in agriculture.

After his graduation, he worked as a soil scientist with the U.S. Department of agriculture.

Career

In 1978, he began his career in politics as the Mayor of Byrdstown, Tennessee, and during this period he was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives.

In 1984, he ran the elections as a Democratic candidate for The 6th Congressional District of Tennessee but lost to Bart Gordon.

In 1994, he again contested the elections for the 4th district but yet again he lost to Jeff Whorley.

In 1996, he was elected to the Upper House of the Tennessee Senate, also known as the Tennessee General Assembly and served there for a period of two years.

From 1996, he served in the Tennessee General Assembly, and resigned in the November of 2002.

From 2005 to 2006, he was asked to work on the House Committee on Agriculture, House Committee on Science and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

During his tenure in the Tennessee General Assembly, he supported pay scale rise for state employees and teachers and also introduced new domestic violence legislation.

He opposed issues related to abortion and also held a strong position on ‘gun control’.

On July 18, 2006, he brought the ‘Federal Marriage Amendment’ to the Floor of the House of Representatives and argued that the amendment had failed to address the critical problems in marriage law.

In the 2006 re-elections, he defeated the Republican candidate Ken Martin.

In 2008, he contested in the November General Elections and defeated Republican candidate Monty Lankford, after which he was appointed to the House Appropriations Committee and the Energy & Water Sub-committee.

In 2010, he exhibited great talent as a politician and was seen as a potential candidate for the post of the Governor of Tennessee.

He was unsuccessful at the election to the One Hundred Twelfth Congress in 2010.

In March 2012, he was denied the right to vote in Fentress Country on ‘Super Tuesday’, a primary election to the national conventions.
