He is married to Lynda Compton Davis, an elementary school teacher, and the couple have three daughters.
He lives with his wife in Pall Mall, a small community in Fentress County, Tennessee, United States.
He owns a successful construction business called ‘Diversified Construction Co’. The company undertakes projects to build apartments and offices.
Lincoln Davis was born in Pall Mall, Tennessee and was raised in the rural part of Fentress Country, the coal mining region of the state.
In 1996, he graduated from the Tennessee Technological University with a degree in agriculture.
After his graduation, he worked as a soil scientist with the U.S. Department of agriculture.
In 1978, he began his career in politics as the Mayor of Byrdstown, Tennessee, and during this period he was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives.
In 1984, he ran the elections as a Democratic candidate for The 6th Congressional District of Tennessee but lost to Bart Gordon.
In 1994, he again contested the elections for the 4th district but yet again he lost to Jeff Whorley.
In 1996, he was elected to the Upper House of the Tennessee Senate, also known as the Tennessee General Assembly and served there for a period of two years.
From 1996, he served in the Tennessee General Assembly, and resigned in the November of 2002.
He is the former president of the Tennessee State Jaycees.
