The former actress is known for playing important roles in films like ‘Nightwing’, ‘The Hunter’, ‘The Sender’, ‘Modern Romance’, and ‘Raw Deal’. Harrold had also been a part of several popular shows on television during her 35 years long acting career; her TV appearances include the shows ‘I'll Fly Away’, ‘Chicago Hope’, ‘King of the Hill’, ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Greek’. Kathryn Harrold’s first ever appearance in the show business was in 1975 when she played the role of ‘Nola Dancy Aldrich’ in ‘The Doctors’, an American television soap opera starring James Pritchett, Elizabeth Hubbard, and David O'Brien. She played the role for two years before being replaced by Kathleen Turner. She then appeared in a couple of television movies and one television show before getting her first lead role in a film.

Harrold married Lawrence O'Donnell, the former Democratic Chief of Staff for the Senate Finance Committee, on February 14, 1994. They later got divorced in 2013. They have a daughter together named Elizabeth Buckley Harrold O'Donnell.
