Childhood & Early Life

Karlous Miller was born on April 2, 1983, and was raised in Oxford, Mississippi. He grew up with five siblings.

His family was known to be friendly. He states that his family is a blend of different characters and that many of his family members later became the basis of his creativity.

Miller worked as a full-time firefighter in his hometown, before moving to Altlanta, Georgia, in 2005. He moved to Atlanta with the purpose of becoming a comedian and soon started to look for work.

Some believe that he moved to Atlanta after being exposed as a drug dealer and finally decided to pursue a career in comedy after discovering his talent as an entertainer.

Career

Miller made his debut TV appearance on ‘Robert Townsends: Partners in Crime—The New Generation.’ Since then, he has made a number of TV appearances, on shows such as ‘Yo Momma,’ ‘Hell Date,’ ‘Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes?,’ ‘Comic View,’ ‘Last Comic Standing,’ ‘The Mo’Nique Show,’ and ‘Off the Chain.’

‘Yo Momma’ was an American TV show based on “yo momma” jokes. The show involved insulting one’s mother and ran from April 2006 to December 2007. It featured a lot of celebrity rappers and singers as guests. Miller was a guest in one of the episodes of the show.

‘Hell Date’ was a prank show where celebrities pretended to be participants in a dating show, with a purpose to ruin the experience of their dates. The show ran for two seasons, from 2007 to 2008.

‘Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes?’ was another show that featured Miller. It was a stand-up comedy competition hosted by Bill Bellamy. The show ran for four seasons, starting on August 22, 2006, and ending on October 4, 2009.

‘Comic View’ was another stand-up comedy show that featured Miller. The show began airing in 1992 and returned to TV screens in May 2014. It served as a launching platform for comedians such as Dante, DL Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, Sommore, and Rodney Perry.

Miller also made an appearance on ‘The Mo’Nique Show’ in 2011. The host of the show, Mo’Nique, served as an inspiration for Miller.

Miller was also part of the popular ‘NBC’ show ‘Last Comic Standing.’ It was a successful reality TV show that aired from 2003 to 2010 and made a comeback in 2014, before it ended again in 2015. Miller was one of the contestants in the eighth season (2014) of the ‘Emmy’-nominated show and was eliminated in the 10th episode of the season.

His most memorable appearance was in the American sketch-comedy and “improv” TV series ‘Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out.’ The show made its debut on July 28, 2005, on ‘MTV,’ and ran for 11 seasons. It returned on ‘MTV2’ in 2013, after a gap of six years.

The premier episode of the fifth season received the highest viewership in the history of ‘MTV2.’ The episode garnered a viewership of more than a million. Karlous was part of the fifth season of the show, which aired in 2013. The show featured a number of reputed artists such as Kevin Hart, Zendaya, Wyclef Jean, Timbaland, Tyra Banks, and Pitbull.

Karlous became quite known for his “wildstyle” battle with fellow ‘Wild ‘N Out’ mate Chico Bean. His entertaining punch lines, embellished with deep yet hilarious comedy, won the hearts of his audiences.

In 2014, he became part of Michael Blackson’s show, ‘Blackson’s Basement.’ The show featured comedians who were part of stand-up comedy shows and networks.

The show featured Miller alongside Rey Lewpowski, Marshall Brandon, Roger Rod, Chris Clarke, Howie Bell, Aj Johnson, Skeet, and Michael himself. The show filmed four episodes but did not get a full-fledged release.

Miller teamed up with his ‘Wild ‘N Out’ co-star DC Young Fly to create the comedy show ‘The South 85 Show.’ The show collected the funniest comedians from the South and created comedy podcasts and videos for the audience.
