Jared Gilmore - Actors, Facts and Personal Life

The acting bug caught on to Jared quite early and he eventually left school to dedicate his time fully to auditioning for his big break. He continuously polished his acting skills through workshops and his hard work bore fruit when he landed a T-shirt advertisement campaign through a modelling agency.

Jared’s career in television acting started by accident when he tagged along with his mother to a casting meeting scheduled by an agent specifically for his twin sister, Taylor. It so happened that the agent decided to represent both Taylor and Jared together. Soon he started getting multiple audition options for major prime time series.

He landed his first role in 2009, as Bobby Draper, son of the character Don Draper from the series ‘Mad Men’. His role was a recurring one and from there his face became a fimilar one. His acting prowess landed him several other acting opportunities in television series and talk shows like ‘Roommates’, ‘Passion’, ‘Without a Trace’, ‘Men of a Certain Age’ ‘Eleventh Hour’ and ‘Hawthorne and Talkshow with Spike Feresten’. Among his Big Screen ventures, most prominent was in ‘The Backup Plan’ starring Jennifer Lopez. Aside that, he also acted in several other movies like ‘A Nanny for Christmas’, ‘Opposite’ and ‘Overnight’.

His claim to fame is the role of Henry Mills, Biological son of character Emma Swan, played by Jennifer Morrison in the ABC fantasy drama ‘Once Upon a Time’. The show aired in 2011 and Jared featured from the Pilot episode of the series. The show has completed six seasons since and the seventh season has been confirmed. Jared was last seen in the episode ‘Wish You Were Here’.

His acting talents found recognition when he was nominated for several prestigious awards like the Screen Actors Guild and Young Artist Award. He won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Bobby Draper in Mad men in 2009. The subsequent year he won the Award for Best Performance in a TV Series – Leading Young Actor at the 34thYoung Artist Awards. Since then he has been nominated several times for his acting abilities by various other award juries.

Not only Jared is a talented actor but he also epitomizes hard work and perseverance. During his early struggling days, when he was finding it difficult to land a breaking role, Jared did not lose hope. Instead, he continued to practice his acting skills and also took up various other lessons like horse riding and music which he thought will come in handy in his career.

At one point, his sister, Taylor, was being approached by agents and this could become the start of a sibling rivalry. But Jared handled his feelings with maturity that should have been beyond his years and kept his focus tight on enhancing his own skills.

From modeling to acting, Jared is well-known in his circle for infusing his work with an infectious honesty that has led him to be one of the most asked for child artist in the television and film industry.

Jared grew up in San Diego, California, but has travelled all over America and even Canada for his acting assignments. He has a twin sister, Taylor, who was also into acting career but she later decided to quit the show business and concentrated on her studies and sport.

Jared is an avid animal lover and has quite a few numbers of pets whom he insists on accompanying him to shoots. He has two dogs, Cooper and Emma, two guinea pigs, Ziggy and Zoey, a rabbit, Benjalina anda cat, Tiger.
