Who is Holly Hunter?

Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer, well recognized for her highly laudable performance in films like ‘Broadcast News’, ‘The Firm’, ‘The Piano’ and ‘The Incredibles’. She won several awards, including an Oscar for the film ‘Piano.’ The accomplished actress started her acting career on the stage, with an array of Broadway, and Off-Broadway projects. Passionate about acting since her school days, she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. She became deaf in one ear after suffering from mumps but did not let this disability dampen her determination to become an actress. As a young woman, she studied drama in college and moved to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. In a chance encounter, she became stuck in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the Broadway ‘Crimes of the Heart’ which became Hunter’s debut. After moving to Los Angeles, she tried to get film roles and bagged a supporting role in ‘Swing Shift’. Since then, she has appeared in numerous films and TV movies and series over a career spanning more than three decades. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won the Women in Film Lucy Award.
