Garrett created his original channel, JoblessGarett, on September 12, 2011. He posted his first video a week later, on 19 September. Since the beginning, he was absolutely sure about what the channel’s content would be. Garrett has been an avid gamer all his life and he had witnessed the surge of popularity of various gaming channels in the early 2010s. It took him some time but he did eventually find success. The channel has more than 1.5 million subscribers and over 260 million views as of June 2018.

These days, his content mainly focuses on Grand Theft Auto gameplay and tutorials. However, he also vlogs, does Q&A videos, and posts many FPS games. The most watched video on his channel is ‘GTA V Playboy Mansion Easter Egg (GTA5) BUNNY PARTY! "Easter Egg Hunting" (GTA V)’. Uploaded on September 21, 2013, the video has garnered nearly 14 million views.

Garrett has a second channel named GamingWithGarry, which was set up on March 14, 2018. It has 47 thousand subscribers and 1.7 million views in total. On this channel, he mainly posts Fortnite Battle Royale PC gameplay as well as Fortnite Mobile.

Garrett was born on September 24, 1990, in Miami, Florida. His parents were never married. They met on a cruise and had kept in touch after that. There was a brief relationship and Garrett was the product of that. Garrett’s biological father was never part of his life. He has met him in person only once in his life and has talked to him on the phone a few times. His mother later married and his stepfather significantly contributed to his upbringing.

Garrett had been hearing that he had a half-sister for a while but he never took the initiative to reach out to her. In September 2016, his mother stepped in and wrote a three-page letter to his half-sister. After a lot of initial confusion, the siblings began talking on the phone and online. In April 2017, Garrett travelled to Hawaii to meet her for the first time.

After leaving Miami, Florida, Garrett stayed for a considerable time in Seattle, Washington, before moving to Los Angeles, California, where he currently resides. He began dating Leah Ashe sometime in late 2015. They have been together since then. In April 2016, he surprised her with a husky puppy whom they later named Astro. He recorded the incident and posted it on his channel. It has become one of his most watched videos of all time with over five million views.
