Childhood & Early Life

Coy Stewart was born on June 24, 1998 in Columbia, South Carolina, United States in the family of Derek Stewart and Keisha Stewart. His other name is Tyson Stewart. There is hardly any information available on his early life and education excepting that he developed an interest in acting as a child after he started reciting dialogues from popular TV series.

His passion to become an actor led him to join the modelling and acting agency DeAbreu Modeling that operates in Columbia. His initial acting endeavour saw him performing the role of Travis Younger in a stage production of the famous Lorraine Hansberry play ‘A Raisin in the Sun’.

Career

Coy landed up with his debut television role in the American television sitcom ‘Are We There Yet?’. He replaced Philip Daniel Bolden to portray one of the main roles of Kevin Kingston-Persons in the series. Starting from the first episode titled ‘The Hyphenated Name Episode’ that aired on June 2, 2010, Coy featured in 72 episodes of the series till 2012. His remarkable performance as Kevin won him Best Supporting Young Actor in a Comedy or Drama award at the Young Artists Award in March 2011.

On August 1, 2010 he featured as Declan in the episode titled ‘Mucked Up’ from the action crime drama television series ‘The Glades’.

While performing in ‘Are We There Yet?’, Coy also became part of the main cast of the American, comedy family TV series ‘The Electric Company’. He featured in 12 episodes of the PBS series starting from the episode ‘Off Target’ that aired on February 7, 2011.

The September 12, 2017 released thriller film ‘Deadly Detention’ directed by Blair Hayes saw Coy playing the starring role of Kevin. He also starred as Dax in the television horror movie ‘House of the Witch’ that released on October 7 that year. Same year he featured as Gavin in the October 19 released American-Indonesian supernatural horror film ‘Devil's Whisper’ directed by Adam Ripp and starring Luca Oriel.
