Childhood & Early Life

Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan was born in Mumbai, India, on 14th March 1965 to parents Tahir Hussain, a film producer, and Zeenat Hussain. He is the eldest of four siblings. He is related to several renowned members of Bollywood.

Khan is known for not attending award ceremonies as he believes that Indian awards, other than the National Film Award, lack credibility.

He also appeared in two films as a child actor. Before he began his career as a professional actor, Khan was involved with the making of several films.

Career

Aamir Khan made his first professional appearance on the big screen in the 1984 drama film 'Holi'. Khan played the minor role of a rowdy college student.

He next played the lead role in the romantic film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. It was based on Shakespeare's play ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ The film was a huge hit, winning a National Film Award and eight Filmfare Awards. It brought Khan to prominence and won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
