Vanessa was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She and her sister Veronica are identical twins. Both studied at the same institution from elementary education to college. They also received music lessons together. Vanessa is of mixed ethnicity; she is of Spanish, German, Mexican, Irish and Portuguese ancestry. Her best friend is her sister.
