Most of the characters of Panio’s novels and stories display extreme traits. They are either volatile or exhibit the traits of that of a sadist. Over the years, he has also sketched characters that look quiet and calm from outside, while undergoing torturous mindset on the inside. A Familiar Beast: ‘A Familiar Beast’ is the story of a man who is disgraced while struggling to overcome the aftermath of his divorce, as he searches for redemption. Out of desperation and loneliness, he goes on a hunting trip with a friend who he hadn’t seen since high school, and the book follows their strange and comic weekend.
How to Get Into Our House and Where We Keep the Money: This is basically a collection of two stories that revolve around female protagonists. Panio has constructed the female characters in a sensitive manner. While sketching the female characters, Panio’s wife too, had contributed with her valuable inputs.
Luxury: This novel is about four women named Maude, Emma, Kara and Paige who hate each other.
