As a child, Kali Hawk was considered to be a child prodigy due to her academic excellence. She started high school at the age of 12 and was accepted in the State University of New York at Purchase before she was even sixteen. She often starred in campus plays, and slowly began doing commercials. She started her acting journey in 2004, but her first substantial role was in the 2006 thriller ‘Holla’. Since then, she has featured in various movies such as ‘Bridesmaids’, ‘Get Him to the Greek’, ‘Couples Retreat’ and ‘Let Go’. Kali Hawk has also appeared in films such as ‘Gotham Café’ and ‘Where is Love Waiting’. Of late, she has gained a lot of attention for her role as ‘Hannah Steele’ in the 2016 spoof of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, known as ‘Fifty Shades of Black’. She has also featured in television shows such as ‘New Girl’, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, ‘Psych’, ‘Let’s Stay Together’ and ‘Black Jesus’. She has appeared in commercials for big players such as KFC, Clorox 2 and MTV Europe. Kali Hawk has also appeared in music videos for famous artists such as KoRn, Norah Jones, T.I. and Usher. She acted opposite the fabulous Mariah Carey, in the Spike Lee comedy ‘Lovers & Haters’.

Kali Hawk was born on 4 October 1986 in The Bronx, New York. She is from a family of multi-cultural heritage with Native American, German Jewish and African-American roots. She was raised in Manhattan, and being the child prodigy that she was, she started high school at the age of twelve. She comes from an ordinary family; her father was in merchandising, and her mother was a buyer for Bloomingdale’s. She pursued acting in college plays, and first got noticed by an agent over there. At the age of sixteen she started studying acting as a course, at SUNY Purchase. She is not married as yet. Little is known about her personal life. She was allegedly in an affair with Faizon Love in the past, but there was no confirmation of the same.
