In 1990, Joy Mangano came out with her first invention, the Miracle Mop. This self-wringing plastic mop can be easily squeezed out without making the users’ hands wet. She eventually started her own company, Ingenious Designs, which she later sold off to USA Networks. By the year 2000, Mangano’s company was selling about $10 million worth of Miracle Mops every year.
