Famous Hoteliers - List of Famous Hoteliers
Hoteliers are the ones who own or manage hotels. Commonly referred to as the hotel manager, these professionals hold a management position in a hotel, motel or resort. A hotel is an establishment that provides accommodation, meals, and other related services to tourists and travelers. The duties and responsibilities of a hotel manager depend upon the size and scale of the hotel he manages. Larger hotels have large management teams headed by a general manager with separate assistant managers representing various departments while smaller hotels will have only two or three managers supervising the entire operations. It is the hotelier who is responsible for the routine day-to-day management of the hotel—he has to supervise the staff, plan for and organize the hotel services, and oversee the housekeeping activities. They are also accountable for the financial management and have to ensure profit maximization through customer satisfaction. In larger hotels the manager would have less interaction with the guests though in smaller establishments the manager would personally be involved in dealing with the guests. Many times the hotel owners also serve as the hotel managers. Find out about the life and works of famous hoteliers from all over the world, through their biographies, in this section.
