Who is Gong Myung?
Gong Myung is a South Korean actor who has showcased his acting prowess in different platforms including in films, TV series and web series. Along with Seo Kang-joon, Lee Tae-hwan, Kang Tae-oh and Yoo Il, Gong is member of the "first ever South Korean actor group" ‘5urprise’ that was launched by ‘Fantagio’, a South Korean talent agency and film and drama production company, in September 2013. The members of ‘5urprise’ made their acting debut in 2013 with the web series ‘After School: Lucky or Not’. That year Gong also featured in another web series ‘Infinite Power’ and landed with his first big screen feature with the film ‘If You Were Me 6’. Moving on he worked in a few more films namely ‘Futureless Things’, ‘A Girl at My Door’ and ‘Su Saek’ and also featured in the short film ‘Ice River’. Over the last couple of years he has worked in many TV series starting from ‘Splendid Politics’ and moving on with other notable projects such as ‘Drinking Solo’, ‘Entertainer’ and ‘The Bride of Habaek’ among others. His forthcoming TV series ‘Revolutionary Love’ slated to air from mid-October 2017 will feature him in a main role.

Childhood & Early Life
Gong Myung was born Kim Dong-hyun on May 26, 1994, in South Korea.
His younger brother Doyoung is a K-pop singer best known as a member of the boy musical group NCT.
Talking about his younger brother in an interview, Gong said "[Doyoung] sang really well since he was young. He'd receive awards for singing, but when we were younger, I was so focused on sports that I didn't give it much thought. But because I debuted first, I think it egged [Doyoung] on a little (laughter). We're cheering each other on. Please look at us fondly."
Career
‘Fantagio’, a South Korean talent agency and film and drama production company launched the South Korean actor group called ‘5urprise’ in September 2013. They chose the group members through an ‘Actor′s League’ program that aims to discover aspiring actors.
Gong became one of the members of ‘5urprise’ along with Seo Kang-joon, Lee Tae-hwan, Kang Tae-oh and Yoo Il, all of whom were trained for a couple of years prior to their debut in the world of entertainment.
The members of ‘5urprise’ including Gong made their debut in acting with the 2013 web series ‘After School: Lucky or Not’ that comprised of 12 episodes of 15 minutes each. The mobile drama featured in BTV, Nate Hoppin, as also on T-Store on smart phones and tablet computers.
Prior to their debut the members of ‘5urprise’ featured in the music videos of the South Korean girls’ pop group ‘Hello Venus’.
He featured as Seon-jae in the Min Yong-Keun, Park Jung-Bum, Lee Sang-Cheol and Shin A-Ga directed big screen flick ‘If You Were Me 6’ that released in South Korea on October 24, 2013. That year he also essayed the role of Seon-jae in the short film ‘Ice River’ and as Han Soo-dong in the web series ‘Infinite Power’.
He played the role of Ki-cheol in the 2014 film ‘Futureless Things’. That year he also featured as Police Officer Kwon Son-oh in the film ‘A Girl at My Door’.
‘A Girl at My Door’ that screened at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival in its Un Certain Regard section on May 19, 2014 received a three-minute standing ovation from the audience. It was released in South Korean theatres on May 22, 2014, and garnered generally positive media reviews.
In 2015 he made his debut in television. That year he appeared in two MBC TV series, featuring as Ja Gyung in ‘Splendid Politics’ (2015) and as Cha Tae-woo in ‘Beautiful You’ (2015-2016).
He essayed the role of Lee Min-sung in the SBS TV series ‘Mystery Freshman’ in 2016. That year he also appeared as Sang-woo in the film ‘Su Saek’.
The other SBS series he appeared in 2016 was the South Korean romance comedy music drama ‘Entertainer’. He played the part of Kyle / Lee Bang-geul, an ace musician, in the series that aired for 18 episodes from April 20, 2016 to June 16, 2016, however failed to make a mark both critically and commercially.
The South Korean TV drama series ‘Drinking Solo’ with Ha Seok-jin and Park Ha-sun in the leads saw Gong essaying the character of Jin Gong-myung, one of the Noryangjin Institute's 9th grade civil service students. The series aired on tvN for 16 episodes beginning from September 5, 2016 to October 25, 2016.
Starting from 2016, Gong has also featured in a few variety shows including in Season 4 of ‘We Got Married’ (2016-2017), ‘Law of the Jungle: Kota Manado’ (2017) and ‘Song Ji-hyo's Beauty View’ (2017).
His first starring role came in 2017 with the two-episode Korean romantic comedy drama ‘Individualist Ms. Ji-young’. He played the role of Park Byuk-soo starring opposite Min Hyo-rin in the drama that aired on KBS2 from May 8, 2017 to May 9, 2017.
This was followed by another main role of Bi-ryum, a wind God, in the South Korean fantasy romance comedy drama series ‘The Bride of Habaek’ that aired on tvN for 16 episodes starting from July 3, 2017 to August 22, 2017. The series was a spin-off of the sunjung manhwa ‘Bride of the Water God’ (2006).
He also played L in the 2017 web series ‘Brain, Your Choice Of Romance LR’.
His upcoming TV series ‘Revolutionary Love’ will see him in one of the main roles of Kwon Jae-hoon. It is scheduled to air on tvN from October 14, 2017.
