Chris Hughes - it, Family and Life

Chris Hughes was born on November 26, 1983 in Hickory United States. He dwells from an extremely modest and simple background. His father, Arlen Hughes, was a paper salesman and his mother, Brenda Hughes, was an educator in a school.

Hughes applied in different boarding schools at the age of 14 and got selected by Philip Academy with a scholarship. He, according to his friends, was very quiet, smart and a little lonely when he took admission in Philip Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.

Later Hughes took admission in Harvard where he met Mark Zuckerberg. The duo decided to share a room.

In February 2006, Mark Zuckerberg launched the Facebook.com along with his roommate and co-founder, Chris Hughes.

The other co-founders of this phenomenal networking site were Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum and Dustin Moskovitz. Hughes also became the spokesman of the company.

Mark Zuckerberg later decided to drop out from Harvard and move to Palo Alto, California, in order to immerse himself completely into the tech world. The entrepreneur wanted to dedicate more time for the enhancement of Facebook.

Chris Hughes didn’t follow him. Instead, he stayed back and completed his academics with a major in history and literature. After completing his graduation, he rejoined Mark in Palo Alto.

He made an effort to assess a few features of Facebook by presenting it to the outer world and the rest is history. It was lapped up by the world at large.

In 2006, Facebook began to allow candidates from political parties to create their profile. Hughes was of great help to Obama, as he assisted the later with his Facebook page.

Highly inspired by Barack Obama and his work, Chris Hughes decided to relocate to Chicago to participate in the presidential campaign. His brainchild My.BarackObama.com amassed a lot of accolades. The site was mainly created for the volunteers.

After Barack Obama was elected the 44th president of United States, Fast Company (a business magazine) came up with an intriguing headline which read “THE KID WHO MADE OBAMA PRESIDENT.” Chris Hughes graced the cover page too. He also attended the first state dinner after Obama’s victory.

In 2012, Chris Hughes purchased a majority stake in The New Republic magazine and became its publisher, executive chairman and editor-in-chief.

He endeavored to alter the organization. He wanted to be more diverse and rich as he believed that a robust media helps a society to function in a proper manner. Though Hughes tried his best, the magazine proved to be unprofitable during his administration.

In 2016, Chris Hughes sold the magazine to Win McCormack, editor-in-chief of Tin House magazine and Tin House Books.

Controversies refuse to stay at bay for a powerhouse like Chris Hughes. The sandy haired Facebook co- founder married his long-time boyfriend, a chiseled and grounded, Sean Simcha Eldridge, at their estate in Garrison, New York, on June 30, 2012.

Sean Simcha Eldridge is the political director of “Freedom to Marry”, the activist group that harps on marriage equality.

The two befriended each other by a mutual friend and instantly became a couple. Their first date was in Temple Bar which is located in Cambridge.

The wedding was a grand affair. The event was planned by Bryan Rafanelli.The celebration on the wedding night witnessed about 350-400 prominent figures from Washington, New York and Silicon Valley.

The wedding was much talked about as this was the most intricate gay wedding, New York had ever witnessed. But it seems the glitter and spark has worn out between the power couple over the passing years.

An article in The Daily Beast coined Hughes and Eldridge as “America’s Worst Gay Power Couple”. The duo has an extensive knowledge of everything that has been penned down about them. No matter what the media writes, this high profile duo are the cautious custodians of their entity.
