Ariane Nicole Andrew, better known as Cameron, is an American professional wrestler, who competed for ‘WWE’ for a few years. She joined fellow wrestler Naomi to form ‘The Funkadactyls.’ She made her ‘WWE’ main roster debut in 2012 as “Cameron.” She was seen grooving with Naomi and other dancers on the ‘Raw’ episode that had Brodus Clay making his comeback. She lost to Alexa Bliss in her last match in an episode of ‘NXT’ in 2016. After two months, it was revealed that she had been released from her contract. Childhood & Early Life

Ariane Nicole Andrew was born on November 3, 1987, in Northridge, Los Angeles, California. Not much is known about her parents. She has a younger sister, Aniyah, and a younger brother, Quentinn.

She attended the ‘Granada Hills Charter High School,’ where she was an active member of the drama club. She then attended the ’California State University’ in Northridge.

She graduated with a BA in business marketing and a BS in psychology. She worked as a behavior therapist for autistic children in North Hollywood before becoming a professional wrestler.

Early Career

Her wrestling journey began after she participated in a non-televised version of ‘Diva Search’ in 2011. The talent competition was held and supported by ‘World Wrestling Entertainment’ (WWE).

Later that year, she competed in the professional wrestling reality TV series ‘Tough Enough.’ Cameron was the first participant to be eliminated from the show that year for lacking passion for wrestling.

Career

Although she was eliminated from ‘Tough Enough,’ Cameron immediately announced that she had been offered another contract by ‘WWE.’ She was next seen as a ring announcer at a ‘Florida Championship Wrestling’ (FCW) house show.

She made her debut on July 7, 2011, and had her first in-ring clash on July 9, as “Cameron Lynn,” in a ‘Divas battle royal.’

She faced “divas” such as Raquel Diaz, Sonia, Aksana, and Audrey Marie and was the first to be eliminated. In October 2011, she made her TV debut, alongside Byron Saxton, in an episode of ‘FCW TV.’

She was also accompanied by her future partner Naomi Knight in a match against Leah West, which Knight won. On October 23, she teamed up with Naomi in a winning match against Caylee Turner and Kaitlyn.

On January 9, 2012, Cameron made her ‘WWE’ roster debut, with Naomi, as they danced to celebrate the return of Brodus Clay. She was also part of ‘WWE’s biggest annual event, ‘WrestleMania XXVIII,’ with Naomi.

On December 16, 2012, she made her televised main-roster debut in ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ “battle royal” at the ‘TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs’ pre-show. The “battle royal” was won by Naomi, who faced Eve Torres for the ‘Divas Championship’ title.

Cameron and Naomi together came to be known as ‘The Funkadactyls’ and continued being back-up dancers for Brodus Clay. In 2013, Aksana and Tamina tried convincing Clay to hire them, which led to a match where Cameron and Naomi defeated Aksana and Tamina. It was Cameron and Naomi’s first match as a team.

Their other talked-about segment was the March 15 ‘SmackDown’ episode, in which the ‘Bella Twins’ attacked them. ‘The Funkadactyls’ then attacked the twins during a match between ‘Tons of Funk’ (Brodus Clay and Tensai) and ‘Team Rhodes Scholars’ (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow).

They eventually clashed in a tag-team match, on the March 27 episode of ‘Main Event.’ The ‘Bella Twins’ won the match after an interference by Cody Rhodes.

At ‘WrestleMania 29,’ the ‘Bella Twins’ and ‘Team Rhodes Scholars’ were set to face ‘The Funkadactyls’ and ‘Tons of Funk’ in an eight-person mixed tag-team match. Due to time constraints, the match was postponed to the following ‘Monday Night Raw.’ ‘The Funkadactyls’ and ‘Tons of Funk’ eventually won.

In August 2013, AJ Lee from the ‘True Divas’ started a feud against the ‘Total Divas’ by calling them undeserving, leading to a match between her and Cameron in the September 27 episode of ‘SmackDown,’ which the latter lost.

The feud eventually led to a ‘seven-on-seven elimination’ match between the ‘Total Divas’ and the ‘True Divas’ at the ‘Survivor Series’ pay-per-view and a re-match in the following ‘Raw’ episode.

Although Cameron was eliminated by Rosa Mendes and Tamina in separate matches, her team emerged victorious in both the matches. During the ‘TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs’ in December, Cameron and Naomi left ‘Tons of Funk’ because of Clay’s rash attitude and joined R-Truth and Xavier Woods in the next episode of ‘Raw.’

In 2014, AJ Lee and ‘The Funkadactyls’ continued their feud, this time, also including AJ’s then-bodyguard, Tamina Snuka. Naomi defeated AJ and Asuka in numerous matches on ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ before sustaining an eye injury during a match against Asuka, which made her stay away from ‘WWE.’

Cameron, however, defeated Asuka in February 2014 Cameron got an opportunity to win the ‘Divas Championship’ in ‘Elimination Chamber.’ She won by disqualification after AJ Lee received an accidental “superkick” from Tamina.

She failed to win the title at ‘WrestleMania XXX,’ which was eventually won by AJ Lee. In June, 2014, Cameron began a feud with then-‘Divas Champion,’ Paige, who defeated Cameron in multiple matches.

During this time, ‘The Funkadactyls’ started falling out. In July 2014, Cameron and Naomi were defeated by Paige and AJ Lee, eventually leading Cameron to turn heel.

Cameron attacked Emma after losing the match to her but was interrupted by Naomi. She was again eliminated by Naomi in a ‘four-on-four elimination tag-team match’ at ‘Survivor Series.’

In April 2015, Cameron became the special guest referee for the match featuring Alicia Fox and Natalya, in which she ended up attacking both the “divas.” This led to a triple-threat match, in which Cameron emerged victorious.

After taking a break, Cameron returned to ‘NXT’ on November 4, 2015, losing to Asuka. On January 13, 2016, she competed in a “battle royal,” which Carmella won, facing Bayley for the ‘NXT Women’s Championship’ title.

The February 10 episode of ‘NXT,’ in which she lost to Alexa Bliss, was Cameron’s last appearance. She was released by ‘WWE’ on May 6, 2016.

Other Works

She played the main role in ‘Total Divas,’ a reality TV show produced by ‘WWE,’ from July 2013 to March 2015. Later, ‘WWE’ announced that Cameron would only be a guest star on the show.

In 2017, she appeared as a participant on the ‘MTV’ reality show ‘The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars.’

Awards & Achievements

Cameron won a ‘Slammy Award’ for the ‘Best Dance Moves of the Year,’ with Naomi, in 2013. Cameron was ranked 17th among the best 50 female single wrestlers in the ‘PWI Female 50’ in 2014.

Personal Life

Cameron was in a relationship with Vincent Isayan before she announced their break-up on ‘Steve Austin’s Podcast’ on May 24, 2016.

In 2012, she was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and trying to bribe an officer. Following this, she was suspended from ‘WWE’ for two weeks.
