He is the son of Talisua Fuavai-Fatu and the former intercontinental and tag team champion and ‘WWE Hall of Famer,’ Rikishi or Solofa Fatu. Jey comes from the famous ‘Anoa’I’ family and is related to other well-known wrestlers, such as Yokozuna, Umaga, The Rock, Roman Reign, The Tonga Kid, among others.

Jey studied at the ‘Escambia High School’ in Pensacola, Florida, and played competitive football. Later he joined the ‘University of West Alabama’ and played as a linebacker from 2003 to 2005.

As a child he watched his father’s matches and was trained by him. ’ He formed a tag team, ‘The Usos,’ with his elder twin, Jimmy, and the team has been assigned to ‘SmackDown’ brand in WWE.

Career

Jey made his WWE debut in 2009 at the ‘Florida Championship Wrestling.’ In January 2010, ‘The Usos’ defeated ‘The Rotundo Brothers,’ but in the clash of the generational wrestlers in February 2010, they were defeated. Sarona Snuka joined them in March as their manager and on March 13 they defeated ‘The Fortunate Sons’ to win the ‘FCW Florida Tag Team Championship.’ They defended and retained their title, but on June 3, 2010, they lost the title to ‘Los Aviadores.’

On May 24 2010, Jey, along with his brother, made his debut on WWE TV episode of ‘RAW.’ Along with Tamina (Sarona Snuka), ‘The Usos’ took on the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions, ‘The Hart Dynasty.’ In another match on June 7, the Harts surged ahead. The Usos defeated the Harts for the first time on the July 12 episode of ‘RAW.’ But he lost his first singles match on the July 26 episode.

‘The Usos,’ together with Tamina, made their PPV (pay-per-view) debut on June 20, against the ‘Hart Dynasty’ in a ‘Fatal 4-Way’ match, which they lost. They failed to win the ‘Tag Team Championship’ that year.

The brothers started performing the traditional Samoan war dance, ‘Siva Tau,’ at the time of their entry to display their strength. In July 2011, they fought for the ‘WWE Tag Team Titles’ but were unsuccessful. During 2011-2012, they made appearances on NXT. They also wrestled at ‘WrestleMania XXVIII’ for the ‘WWE Tag Team Championship’ but could not make it.

In order to pay tribute to their Samoan culture, Jey and Jimmy began using face paint (on the episodes of RAW) from June 2013. ‘The Usos’ went on to win several matches, but were not successful at winning the ‘Championship.’ In an 11-on-3 Elimination Gauntlet, Jey Uso became the first wrestler to defeat ‘Roman Reigns’ in the WWE.

During the March 9 SmackDown tapings, Jey Uso suffered shoulder injury and in April his left arm had an anterior shoulder dislocation and so couldn’t participate in any match for nearly 6 months. (In the meanwhile his brother Jimmy continued by teaming up with others). Jey returned to the ring in November 2015. The team was unsuccessful at the ‘TLC,’ but in December they won another ‘Slammy Award for the Tag Team of the Year.’

In the first half of 2016, they lost most of the matches. In July 2016, they were drafted to ‘SmackDown’ at the ‘2016 WWE Draft.’ The pair turned ‘heel’ or villainous during this segment. They reached the semifinals and were number 1 contenders for the ‘WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship,’ but failed to win the title.

The Uso brothers took on a new trick in December and turned street-thugs. They kept feuding with ‘American Alpha’ for the tag titles and ultimately, on March 21, 2017, they won the ‘SmackDown Tag Team Championship’ by defeating ‘American Alpha.’ ‘The Usos’ became the first team to win both the ‘RAW Tag Team Championship’ and the ‘SmackDown Tag Team Championship.’ They successfully defended their titles for 124 days but lost to ‘The New Day’ at ‘Battleground.’

They recaptured their titles on August 20 by conquering ‘The New Day’ at the ‘SummerSlam pre-show.’ This victory made them the first team to win the ‘SmackDown Tag Team Championship’ twice and become a four time tag team champions.

They lost the titles to ‘The New day’ on September 12 in a ‘Sin City Street-Fight’ of ‘SmackDown Live.’ ‘The Usos’ regained their tag team titles on September 26 in a match inside ‘Hell in a Cell.’ After this third win, they offered truce with ‘The New day.’

At ‘Survivor Series’ in an interbrand ‘Champion vs Champion’ match, they defended their titles against ‘Raw Tag Team Champions’ Cesaro and Sheamus. The brothers again defended their title at ‘Royal Rumble’ in a ‘2-out of-3 falls’ match by defeating Gable and Shelton Benjamin.
