Childhood & Early Life
Brad Douglas Paisley was born to Douglas Edward, an employee with the West Virginia Department of Transportation, and Sandra Jean Paisley, a teacher.
When he was eight years old, his maternal grandfather presented him a guitar and taught him to play.
His first song ‘Born on Christmas Day’ was written when he was 13. Soon, he formed a band called Brad Paisley and the C-Notes, and began performing at social events and club get-togethers.
Hearing him perform, the program director of a radio station in West Virginia asked him to be a guest on Jamboree USA. He was soon made a member of the weekly line up and for the next eight years also opened for The Judds, George Jones, and others.
He won a scholarship to Belmont University and interned at ASCAP, Atlantic Records, and Fitzgerald-Hartley. He also met Frank Rogers, Kelley Lovelace, and Chris DuBois with whom he had successful working relationships.
Career
He signed a contract to write songs or EMI Music Publishing within a week of his graduation, and wrote ‘Another You’, released in 1997, for David Kersh and ‘Watching my Baby Not Come Back’, released in 1999 for David Ball. (mention year)
He debuted as a singer with ‘Who Needs Pictures’, released in 1999 and followed it up with his No.1 hits, ‘He Didn’t Have to Be’ and ‘We Danced’.
In 2000, he won the CMA Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music’s Best New Male Vocalist Trophy.
In 2001, he received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and later inducted into the Grand Ole Opry—the youngest to join—and his performance at the Grand Ole Opry garnered a CMA nomination for Vocal Event of the Year.

In support of his album ‘5th Gear’, he played for 1 million fans across 94 cities and over a 10-month period in 2008. Later that year, he worked with Keith Urban on the critically acclaimed Play and kicked off his Part II tour as well.
Paisley co-hosted the CMA Awards in 2009. In addition to Male Vocalist of the Year, his Start a Band event in collaboration with Keith Urban won the Musical Event of the Year award.
In 2011, ‘Old Alabama’, the second single from ‘This is Country Music’ became his 19th no.1 hit. Later that year, he provided voice work for various characters on South Park.
Released in 2013, Wheelhouse had two singles that reached no.2 on the Country Airplay chart: ‘Southern Comfort Zone’ and ‘Beat This Summer’. He is scheduled to join the Rolling Stones onstage later this year.

‘Ticks, Online, Letter to Me, I’m Still a Guy, and Waitin on a Woman’, on the album 5th Gear, gave Paisley eight straight no.1 hits; the album got 3 Grammy nominations and won it for Best Country Instrumental for Throttleneck.
‘Whiskey Lullaby’, the ninth track from the double platinum, ‘Mud on the Tires’ reached No.3 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks in 2003. Its video was rated No.2 on the ‘100 greatest Music Videos’ by CMT.
