Catherine’s rise to fame is meteoric in nature. And it is as unanticipated as the term implies. She was going on about her normal teenage life like any other day, and suddenly one fine day she is famous all over the web due to a video she posted as boxxybabee.

Catherine’s decision to post two consecutive videos was prompted by her friends’ request for a shout out. She had met these friends in the gaming community of ‘Gaia Online’ where she is a regular member. While making the videos, she had donned up a dark Goth makeup look with wide kohl rimmed eyes. Her effervescent personality would not let her sit still in front of the camera and she constantly moved around while chatting freely towards the camera. Her hyperactive manner and friendly attitude attracted a lot of adoration from the viewers and her videos went viral within a very short period of time.

A few days after Catherine uploaded the videos, they were reposted in a popular online community ‘i-am-bored.com’ and were viewed and shared more within the members of the site. Everyone agreed that her bubbly outbursts and constant fidgeting was endearing to watch and as a result the videos were widely shared. Owing to the popularity wave, Catherine’s video was shared in the popular imageboard website ‘4chan’.

Catherine’s videos gained different opinions from various internet factions and multiple attempts were made to bring her channel down by haters. The episode affected Catherine’s life to a large extent as her channel was hacked by hater groups and all personal information was released. She experienced stalking and mob gathering at her own home.

But ultimately Catherine accepted her fate and surrendered to her fame. In 2010, she came up with anime-themed merchandise and put them up for sale on eBay. She also created a new YouTube channel ‘ANewHopee’ and promised to present exciting new content. She came up in her new channel as herself, explained her absence and irregularity from social media. Her new avatar in YouTube saw her as Catherine posting various contents from comedy to makeup tutorials to blogs. None of these were able to match the success of her Boxxy avatar.

She continued her normal life and landed the job as a presenter in the Discovery Digital Networks streaming series the ‘Animalist’ in 2013-2014.

In 2016, she lent her voice to the character Marsha in Disney XD's animated series Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer.

When Catherine became aware of the popularity that her videos were attracting, she responded by deleting them anticipating negative onslaught. But that did not make much difference to the internet users as copies of her videos had already been saved by users and they kept on circulating them.

Post the appearance of her video in 4chan, the opinions of some viewers changed towards boxxybabee and they generated a lot of negative comments. These negative comments led to more and there began a nasty campaign against the teen YouTuber. Various memes were created sing her images and her choice of makeup were even criticized at length. Members who were against Boxxy’s success continued their quest to defame the girl by launching the infamous ‘Center for Boxxy Control and Restriction’ where they instigated a denial-of-service attack and flame wars. These factions of 4chan members also launched ‘Operation Valkyrie’ openly declared that they plan to hack her boxxybabee channel and threatened to expose her identity. They eventually succeeded in hacking Catherine’s channel, but all these efforts did not dent her popularity much.

Tired of all these attempts from 4chan members, Catherine appeared once more in her Boxxy avatar and addressed haters. She came clear of all the allegations and shaming that had been waged against her stating that she did not do drugs and is definitely not have an attention disorder.

The 4chan members retaliated by concentrating their efforts to seize control of her YouTube channel and they ultimately succeeded. They posted a video on her channel showing the sentence ‘We have your full dox’ along with a bizarre soundtrack. Catherine’s appeal to Google was approved and the channel was suspended. In an unprecedented move, 4chan members arranged for a meeting near Catherine’s residence.

Catherine was immensely spooked by this incident and stopped posting any more of her Boxxy videos. Instead, she chose to focus on her schoolwork in a bid to return to normalcy again. But things did not stop there. There arose a copyright issue where another group took copyright of her videos and uploaded to a different account, thereby losing the millions of views acquired so far. The videos were subsequently restored to her channel upon presenting valid proof to Google by Catherine.

Not much is known about Catherine’s personal life except that she majored in arts and design and has a pet cat. Her family background is kept under wraps as her personal life.
