Nikki Bella - Professional Wrestler, Timeline and Family

Nikki Bella was born in San Diego, California to Jon Garcia and Kathy Golace on November 21, 1983, sixteen seconds before her sister Brie, making her the elder of the twins. For the most part of her childhood, she was raised in a farm located in Arizona.

Nikki used to be a keen football player and played along with her sister in the elementary school in Scottsdale, where she resided. From there, they became fitness fanatics and adapted a healthy lifestyle which eventually led them to pursue a career in sports.

Her parents hailed from Mexican and Italian descent and Nikki has mentioned that she had quite a comforting childhood and her parents supported the sisters in whatever they wanted to do.

Nikki Bella finished her high school education from Chapparal High School and for further studies; she made a move to San Diego and took admission in Grossmont college. She played football for the school team and showed an immense talent and skill and quickly became the team favourite.

But somehow, she decided that it wasn’t the life of her dreams, so she resettled her base the Los Angeles, where she started doing small jobs while at the same time, tried to look for agents to grab some modelling or acting assignments.

Nikki Bella started hunting for jobs in modelling and acting and she eventually got a head start by appearing in a Fox TV show ‘Meet my Folks’. That small gig of hers got her recognized and she started getting offers in bulk, and eventually, she was seen in a Budweiser ad along with her sister.

Nikki and her sister had some failed attempts in form of the competitions such as ‘International Body Doubles Twins Search’ and the ‘2006 WWE Diva search’. The next year proved to be life transforming for both the sisters as they finally entered the world of World Wrestling Entertainment, the biggest wrestling showdown in USA.

WWE signed Nikki for a development contract in June 2007, along with her twin sister and they made their in-ring debut in the Florida Championship wrestling on September 15, 2007. Both the sisters started off with a win and eventually became the fan favourites due to their playful acts of hiding behind the referee and switching placse, taking full advantage of their identical looks.

Their apparent rivalry with Nattie Neidhart and Victoria Crawford consumed much of their remaining stints through rest of the year and in between that, Nikki fought in some mixed matches teaming up with Kofi Kingston and Robert Anthony.

For the next two years, the sisters kept fighting in a tag team, getting popular less because of their fights, more because of their antics backstage. The sisters became on*screen evils by January 2011 after assaulting Gail Kim backstage and the cheers upon their entrance in the arena quickly turned into hoots.

In April 23rd 2012, Nikki secured her first WWE Divas Championship belt after defeating Beth Phoenix on Raw. However, her reign as a champion was quite short lived and she lost is one week later to Layla, because of her sister after a failed attempt at ‘Twin Magic’.

The very next night on Raw, she got her chance her championship once again in a triple threat match against Layla and Brie, and lost. That fight proved to be her last for quite some time as later that night, the news about her suspension from WWE was revealed on the official WWE website.

The Bella Twins were soon active again on Raw and started feuding with several wrestlers without any significant victory. The sisters were mostly busy with their crazy antics to entertain the audiences.

Soon after that, in 2014 Nikki got her chance to win the ‘WWE Diva champion’ once again and defeated AJ Lee in a survivor series match to earn it. She would keep the title for almost 10 months, setting up the record to be the longest running WWE Diva champion, and defended it against multiple opponents, and eventually lost it to Charlotte 301 days later in a ‘Night of Champions’ match.

Nikki then kept fighting several opponents along with her sister, sometimes in single matches and started a relationship with John Cena. After a mixed match, Cena proposed her and she accepted. Heartbreaking news sprung up on her Instagram account on April 4th 2017 where she announced her break from professional wrestling.

Nikki Bella dated WWE superstar Nick Nemeth for a brief period of time. Together, they participated in several matches and their romance became a talk of the town.

In 2014, a revelation shocked her fans in which she stated that she had married her high school boyfriend when she was 20, but had the marriage annulled three years later. In the same year, Nikki also said in an interview that if she wasn’t a wrestler, she would have been a real estate agent as she is qualified to be one.

In 2012, John Cena and Bella began dating and they became the most loved couple on and off the show. The couple announced their engagement on April 2nd 2017, and just 2 days later, Nikki announced her temporary break from the professional wrestling and said that the talks of marriage were on between the two.

Apart from wrestling, Nikki has appeared in movies and TV shows such as ‘Confessions of a Womanizer’ and ‘Ridiculousness’, ‘Psyched’ and ‘Total Divas’.

She was thrashed in the media circuits for being the reason for John Cena’s divorce with his ex-wife.

She was trained by Tom Prichard and developed a wholly different wrestling style, which is now being attempted by several other female wrestlers.
