Who is Judy Woodruff?
Judith “Judy” Woodruff is an American journalist who serves as the anchor as well as managing editor of the television news show ‘PBS NewsHour’. She has also worked with many other news channels including CNN and NBC News. She is a founding co-chairperson of International Women's Media Foundation. She is a part of the steering team of Reporters' Committee for Freedom of the Press and sits on the board of trustees of Freedom Forum. Woodruff also serves on the advisory board for the non-profit organization America Abroad Media. While she is well known as a journalist, very few people know that the American lady is also an author who has written numerous books till date. Her writing credits include ‘The Theodore H. White lecture with Judy Woodruff’ and ‘This Is Judy Woodruff at the White House’. In 2013, Woodruff, along with her co-anchor Gwen Ifill was honoured with a trophy from the Women’s Media Center.

Career
Judy Woodruff started her journalism career in the year 1970 as a news anchor at the then-CBS affiliate WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. Five years later, she was hired by NBC News. There she served as the Chief White House Correspondent from 1977 to 1982. She also covered the channel’s ‘The Today Show’ from 1982 to 1983. After this, she moved to PBS and began working as the chief Washington correspondent for the network’s ‘The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour’. Woodruff also hosted the channel’s documentary series titled ‘Frontline with Judy Woodruff’.
In 1993, she was hired by CNN where she hosted the talk show ‘Inside Politics’ for 12 years. She then returned to PBS in 2006 to work on the documentary ‘Generation Next’. The following year, the American journalist served as the senior correspondent as well as the substitute anchor for PBS’ ‘The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer’.
On August 6, 2013, the PBS network named her and Gwen Ifill as the co-anchors as well as the co-managing editors of the broadcast ‘PBS NewsHour.’ The duo went on to share the anchoring duties until Ifill's death in November 2016 after which Woodruff began serving as the sole anchor of the show except for the evening broadcast. Since 2006, Woodruff has also anchored the weekly program titled ‘Conversations with Judy Woodruff’ for the Bloomberg Television.
