Who is David Copperfield?
David Copperfield, born as David Seth Kotkin, is a world famous magician who has created 11 Guinness World Records so far. Credited to be the world’s most commercially successful magician, he began weaving his magic from a young age. A shy child, he found solace in creating illusions and performing magic tricks. He was just 12 years old when he was invited to join the Society of American Magicians, becoming the youngest ever to join the society. He had perfected the art of magic at such a young age that he was chosen to teach a class on magic at the New York University. He first tasted success when he was cast in the musical, ‘The Magic Man’. The teenager’s performance was critically appreciated and the show went on to become the longest running musical in Chicago’s history. He got his first television break when his talent was spotted by the producer, Joseph Cates, and he was offered the opportunity to work in one of his productions, ‘The Magic of ABC’. A prolific performer, he could perform four live shows a day and over 500 shows in a year. He has the honour of being the only solo entertainer who has sold over 40 million tickets.
