Tim Lambesis - Songwriters, Career and Facts

Tim Lambesis was born on 21 November 1980 in California, US and was named Tim Peter Lambesis at birth. His father is Nick Lambesis. He is an alumnus of Santa Fe Christian School in California. He holds a majors degree in Religious Studies from Liberty University.

He started his music career as a bass guitarist during high school days but got his big break when he formed the band named ‘Against the Mark’ with Matt Carlson.

Lambesis is associated with various bands not just as a vocalist and guitarist, but also as a bassist, drummer and keyboard player. He also produces music albums and writes songs occasionally.

In 2001, Tim Lambesis formed ‘As I Lay Dying’ along with drummer Jordan Mancino, his co-performer in the band ‘Point of Recognition’. The band released their first album ‘Beneath the Encasing of Ashes’ in the same year on the Pluto Records label.

In 2007, Lambesis released his band’s most popular album till date ‘An Ocean Between Us’ and the song ‘Nothing Left’ from the album received a Grammy nomination in the Best Metal Performance Category.

In 2008, he joined hands with Chad Ackerman to form ‘Austrian Death Machine’, a parody band based on Arnold Schwarzenegger. The band released two albums in its year of formation namely, ‘Total Brutal’ and ‘A Very Brutal Christmas’ followed by the release of ‘Double Brutal’ in the subsequent year 2009. In 2014, the band released ‘Triple Brutal’, the next chapter in the ‘Brutal’ series.

He faced felony charges in 2013 leading to the cancellation of the most advertised tour of ‘As I Lay Dying’ with Killswitch Engage. The second half of 2014 saw a major setback in the career of Tim Lambesis, when the courtsentenced him to six years in prison for solicitation of murder of his estranged wife.

In December 2016, he got out of prison on parole and started focusing on the revival of ‘As I Lay Dying’ with a new line up of musicians.

Tim Lambesis worked as a guest vocalist on some of the popular bands. He performed for ‘Winter Solstice’ in the album ‘The Fall of Rome’ in 2005, for ‘Sworn Enemy’ in their album ‘The Beginning of the End’ in 2006 and for ‘Bleeding Through’ in ‘Declaration’ in 2008.He lent his voice for ‘Evergreen Terrace’ in ‘Almost Home’ in 2009, with ‘Impending Doom’ for ‘There Will Be Violence’ in 2010, with ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ for ‘Dead Throne’ in 2011, amongst others.

He played all the instruments for all the five albums released by his band ‘Austrian Death Machine’ and played guitar for ‘Point of Recognition’.

Tim Lambesis also produced around 15 music records till date with around three records for ‘Sworn Enemy’, two each for ‘Impending Doom’ and ‘War of Ages’ and one each for ‘Underneath the Gun’, ‘Carnifex’, ‘Sea of Treachery’, ‘Molotov Solution’, ‘Chelsea Grin’, ‘Destruction of a Rose’ and ‘As I Lay Dying’.

In 2004, Tim Lambesis married Meggan Murphy. The couple adopted two daughters and a son from Ethiopia. The marriage ended in 2012 when Meggan filed for divorce stating Lambesis’ obsession with bodybuilding, tattoos and increasing carelessness towards the children in addition to an extra-marital affair.

He planned to murder Meggan in 2013 by hiring a hit man and the attempt failed with Lambesis being convicted for solicitation of murder. He received a six years sentence in prison in 2014 and is out on parole since December 2016.

Tim Lambesis got engaged to Amanda Dubord in February 2017, a fitness model, with whom he was in a relationship much before his arrest in 2013. The couple are rumored to have married in April 2017; however, there is no official statement from the artist to this effect.

Tim Lambesis hired an undercover police officer to murder his estranged wife assuming the police officer to be a hit man.

He claims to be a devout Christian on his blogs and interviews at the same time claiming Protestant and Catholic denominations within Christianity to have poisonous roots.

He estranged wife has alleged that he spends a huge amount from his earnings towards his obsession for bodybuilding and tattoos.

During his incarceration, he has filed lawsuits against gross negligence of two Southern California detention centers that have denied supplying him anastrozole, a prescription drug to fight the side effects after he gave up steroids. In the lawsuit, he demanded for US$ 35 million in compensation claiming that non-availability of the drug has caused him to develop breasts and lead him to emotional distress. The court dismissed the claim for compensation in 2016; however, the allegation of medical negligence is due for trial in the courts.
