Early Life

Nancy Shevell was born on November 20, 1959, in New York. She was born to Myron, the owner of 'New England Motor Freight,' and Arlene.

Nancy was been raised in a Jewish family in Edison, New Jersey. She lost her mother to breast cancer in 1991.

Nancy was always interested in boyish things. The tom-boyish girl never liked to play with dolls. She instead loved to collect the toy-trucks which her father used to bring for her. She used to spend time at her father’s truck terminals from where she started developing an interest in her family business. Sporty by nature, Nancy represented her school’s all-girl football team. She now enjoys skiing and flying.

Education & Career

Nancy holds a degree in transportation from the 'Arizona State University.' Back then, she was among the few females to major in such a masculine subject.

Nancy took over her family business in 1983. It was not easy for her to run the male-dominating business. Before she joined the business, Nancy had seen all the adversities the company had gone through. Her father set up the business back in 1920s, and later joined his brother to start a completely independent company. In a short time, the 'Shevell brothers' were found guilty under several cases of fraudulence. The company was declared bankrupt. Nancy’s uncle, unable to cope with the stress, committed suicide. It was her father who then bought the trucking company 'New England Motor Freight,' which is now one of the subsidiaries of the 'Shevell Group Of Companies.' However, Nancy's father was once again taken into custody under charges of fraudulence. All these events never demotivated Nancy though. With all her determination to make the company flourish, she joined the business. Within three years of joining, she became the 'Vice-president' of the 'Shevell Group of Companies.'

In 2001, Nancy was appointed as one of the board members of 'The Metropolitan Transportation Authority,' the largest public transportation authority in the state of New York. The post was offered to her by the then-governor, George Pataki.

Marriage & Family Life

Nancy met lawyer turned politician Bruce Blakeman during her university days. They soon got married and later had a son named Arlen. In December 2008, Nancy and Bruce got divorced.

Nancy found love in 'The Beatles' fame multi-instrumentalist, Paul McCartney. They first met in the Hamptons, on New York's Long Island. Paul too was just out of a bad marriage then. Nancy and Paul tried hard to keep their relationship under the wraps, but could not escape the ever-chasing paparazzi. They were often spotted spending quality time together. Though Nancy began dating Paul much before she divorced Bruce, she revealed the relationship only after the divorce was confirmed.

Soon after their relationship was made public, the couple got engaged. The whole media fraternity was awestruck when Paul gifted her USD 650 thousand '1925 Cartier' solitaire from 'Tate Galleries.’

Nancy signed a prenuptial agreement which stated that she would not claim any alimony if her marriage with Paul fails in the future.

After four years of courtship, Nancy and Paul finally walked the aisle. The wedding ceremony was held at 'Old Marylebone Town Hall,' London. Nancy’s wedding outfit was designed by Paul’s daughter, Stella McCartney. Paul’s second daughter, Beatrice, from his second wife, Heather Mills, was the flower girl of the day. His only son, James McCartney, gave a warm welcome to his ‘new mother.’

Both Nancy and Paul have accepted each other’s children from their previous marriages. They all now make a big happy family and are often spotted at events.

Nancy has been diagnosed with cancer in the past.
