Mileage sailing and lace galore were invited on September 4 in Quito, Ecuador, for the wedding of Jasmine Tookes and Juan David Borrero. Together since 2016, the couple chose the entrepreneur’s hometown to say “yes”, in front of their families and friends, surrounded by a myriad of white flowers. Beyond the spectacular décor, it was the wedding outfit of the former Victoria’s Secret Angel that dazzled the crowd. Signed Zuhair Murad, this one is distinguished by its tail, measuring nearly 5 meters long, and by its similarities with another wedding dress, remained in history.
Indeed, on April 19, 1956, a certain Grace Kelly radiates beauty in front of millions of viewers. She is then about to marry Prince Rainier of Monaco, adorned with a sumptuous toilet all in silk and lace embroidered with pearl, created by the costume designer Helen Rose.

Her dress, of rare elegance, is reminiscent of that of Jasmine Tookes, who was probably inspired by it when imagining her wedding outfit with the Lebanese couturier. “I sent him my inspirations, and he designed the most beautiful and timeless dress I’ve ever seen,” she says in vogue columns. His followers were quick to point out the similarities between the two creations…
What they may not know is that the model was able, unlike the princess, to transform her dress in the middle of the evening: the most covering part could be removed, turning it into a post-party dress, ideal for sketching a few steps on the dance floor.
Juan David Borrero, the groom, was in an Armani tuxedo. “We both wanted to have styles that were as classic and traditional as possible,” says Tookes. A challenge was brilliantly taken up by this former Angel with the air of a princess.
