Janos Ader is one of the most famous names in Hungarian politics. Although he graduated as a lawyer, this man quickly moved into politics at a young age. Childhood & Early Life

Janos Ader was born in Hungary in 1959, to parents of a middle-class economic background. While his mother worked at a healthcare company, Ader’s father served as the deputy manager of a local store. He was the first child born to his parents, and was raised at the Győr-Moson-Sopron County, located in the town of Csorna.

He joined the ‘Eötvös Loránd University’, located at Budapest in 1978, where he studied law, for a period of five years.

He later joined the sociological research institute, ‘Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ in 1986, where he worked as a research fellow for the next four years.

At the same time, he was also a part of the opposition round table group, which played an important role in trying to end the single-party style of administration in the country.

Career

During the period 1990-94, Ader led the election campaigns for the conservative political party ‘Fidesz’ on two different occasions. He was also elected as a member of the Hungarian parliament at around the same time.

After being occupied with his duties as a parliamentarian for the next few years, this lawyer was elected as the member of the National Assembly of Hungary in 1998. During his tenure, this lawyer became responsible for Hungary’s association with the inter-governmental military initiative, ‘North Atlantic Treaty Organization’ (NATO).

He became the leader of opposition of his party ‘Fidesz’, in 2002, and continued to handle the responsibility for the next four years.

In 2009, he, along with a few other politicians belonging to the conservative party, contested the ‘European Parliamentary Election’. A successful Ader became the member of the European Parliament, soon after the contest.

Two years later, in 2011, this ‘Fidesz’ leader played a pivotal role in drafting the legislation, which aimed to establish judicial independence in Hungary.

The year 2012 was one of the most eventful years of this leader’s political career. On 16th April this year, he was elected as the President of the nation, after his party colleague Pal Schmitt stepped down.

The same year, he was appointed as the deputy chairman of the 'Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety'

The new president of Hungary tried strengthening the relation between his nation and Israel, by inviting the country’s president Shimon Peres to Hungary, in July 2012. The Hungarian leader claimed that the intention was to gather knowledge about Israel’s water management strategies.

In just 14 months of his tenure, the Hungarian president had appealed to the governing bodies such as the 'Constitutional Court' and the 'National Assembly for Consideration' to review 15 laws, and make changes if possible. His actions were in stark contrast to is predecessor Pal Schmitt, who hadn't attempted to make such changes while he was the president.

Ader attempted to build cordial relations with Serbia in 2013, when he apologized to the country's citizens at the Serbian Parliament for the harms caused by his nation to the Serbian nationals during the Second World War.

Major Works

Ader drew the attention of esteemed leaders from various nations through his speech at the ‘67th session of the UN General Assembly’, held at New York in 2012. The Hungarian political stalwart spoke about the new accommodations made in his country, which would benefit the country’s citizens immensely.

He emphasized on the preservation of Hungary’s natural resources such as water and land as a part of the nation’s cultural heritage, through this speech.

Personal Life & Legacy

Janos got married to a lawyer named Anita Herczegh, who later went on to become a judge. The couple is blessed with four children, a son, and three daughters.

His wife Anita’s father was also a lawman, who served as the judge of the ‘International Court of Justice’, situated in Netherlands, for a period of 10 years.
