Famous Apostles - List of Famous Apostles
Apostle is derived from the Greek word, ‘apostolos’, which means, ‘one who is sent forth’ as an ambassador, scholar or rabbi. An apostle is a messenger sent directly from God to carry out a specific task or ‘preach’ a certain foresight during his time as a mortal. The word apostle has two significant means, one citing an early Christian apostle directly linked to Jesus Christ and the other is directly a commissioned representative of a congregation, who is given the special task of founding and establishing churches in the Christian faith. Also, it is believed that Jesus appointed twelve disciples to be his first apostles and gave them all sorts of powers from uncontaminating spirits and curing all types of sicknesses. Besides the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, there were also other apostles including Barnabas, Andronicus and Junias and Epaphroditus. According to the Baha’I faith, the apostles played a crucial role in the development of Bahá'u'lláh’s faith and imparting his teachings around the world. In the Islamic faith, an apostle is any messenger who carries a specific teaching or message from the supreme force to specific regions. Here is a list of famous apostles.
