Apple is reportedly not planning to release a third-generation AirPods with a USB-C port, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. However, a revised version of the second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C port may be released later this year. Kuo’s tweet indicates that there are no current plans for USB-C versions of the AirPods 2 and 3. While Apple is working on an “AirPods Lite” version to compete against cheaper wireless earbuds, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu predicts that demand for AirPods will decrease by 2023.

This information is noteworthy because Apple is reportedly working on a revised version of the second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C port rather than the latest AirPods version. Speculations suggest that Apple may be holding off on adding a USB-C port to its fourth-generation AirPods.
In the meantime, Apple is reportedly developing an “AirPods Lite” version to compete against cheaper wireless earbuds. Currently, AirPods come in four different models, ranging from the second-generation AirPods to the advanced AirPods Max. While they have become popular earphones, they are not inexpensive.
