Google has denied accusations of copying OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, to train its own AI chatbot, Bard. A report claimed that Google’s Brain AI group and DeepMind were developing software to compete with OpenAI. The joint effort, known as Gemini, started after Google’s first chatbot, Bard, stumbled. However, Google has said that Bard was not trained on any data from ShareGPT or ChatGPT. The company has opened up early access to Bard for users to collaborate with generative AI. Like ChatGPT and Bing chatbot, Bard is based on a large language model and users can interact with it by asking questions and refining their responses.

Google has denied allegations that it copied ChatGPT, OpenAI’s chatbot, to train its own AI chatbot, Bard. The Information had reported that Google’s Brain AI group was working with employees at DeepMind to develop software to compete with OpenAI. Known as Gemini, the joint effort started recently, after Google’s first attempt at creating a chatbot, Bard, stumbled. However, a Google spokesperson has informed The Verge that Bard is not trained on any data from ShareGPT or ChatGPT. Google has also announced that Bard is being opened up as an early experiment for users to collaborate with generative AI. Early access to Bard has been rolled out in the UK and the US, and the company plans to expand access to more countries and languages in the future. Like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing chatbot, Bard is based on a large language model (LLM), specifically a lightweight and optimized version of LaMDA. Users can interact with Bard by asking questions and refining their responses with follow-up questions.
