Yoon So-hee was born on 7th May 1993 in Stuttgart, Germany to an affluent family. During their early days in Germany,the family had a well-established business. But somehow, the business incurred losses and her father started working as a delivery man to make the ends meet. This also took a toll on their family and her parents’ marriage ended up in divorce while Yoon was in her fourth grade. This also affected her and her elder sister. The family then moved back to Seoul when Yoon was six years old.

Her father then started working as a professor in a technical university. Yoon inherited a strong academic mind from her father and was known as the topper in earlier grades. The sisters lived with their father, who trained his daughters in martial arts and compelled them to work out every morning. He also cultivated in them, healthy eating habits. This resulted in Yoon growing up faster than other kids.She was also healthier and more beautiful than most of her contemporaries. She also became increasingly good in sports, thanks to the physical training she received as a kid and was known as a bright student.

She had already appeared in an independent film at the age of 12 and expressed her desire to work in the entertainment industry. But her father knew her abilities and knew that she could do great academically and hence opposed her decision. Her mother also didn’t support Yoon, but her sister did, in whatever ways she could.

In 2011, she had already been enrolled into the prestigious KAIST University, which is known as one of South Korea’s most popular science and research universities. She studied molecular and chemical engineering at the college. She kept auditioning for roles in films and TV at the same time. When her first opportunity came in the form of a variety show, she took a leave of absence from her college and pursued her acting career.

Yoon started her acting career with the series ‘The Blade and Petal’ in 2013, in which she essayed a minor role as Nang-ga. In the same year, her appearance in the comedy series ‘Let’s Eat’ saw her playing one of the four lead characters.The characters live together in the same apartment with their individual issues with each other, finally brought together by the common love they share for food. Her adorable screen presence made producers to take note of this new actress, who then offered her more roles, but not quite the ones she desired.

2014 proved to be a big year for her as she made her appearance in back to back TV stints. First she appeared in ‘Love in Memory 2’, which happened to be a mobile drama. She was then seen in ‘Wild Chives and Soy Bean Soup: 12 Years of Reunion’. The series revolved around high school kids, and Yoon played the younger version of the lead character in the show.
