Seth Rollins was born Colby Daniel Lopez in Buffalo, Iowa, on 28th May, 1986. He has American, German, and Irish ancestry.
His real last name, Lopez, comes from his stepfather who had a Mexican-American descent. His ring name is Seth Rollins. The Rollins part comes as a tribute to Henry Rollins, the famous former Black Flag singer. Colby is a huge fan of him.
Colby was a total introvert as a young guy. He carried out a normal life until his wrestling career. He loved Rock Music since his childhood.
Colby’s wrestling career started in 2005 under the mentorship of Danny Daniels when he first entered to play the Ted Petty Invitational Tournament for Scott County Wrestling (SCW). Although he was eliminated in the QFs, he later conquered the title of the Champion and marked his prize belt black to mark the “The Black Era” in SCW.
Later, he joined the NWA Midwest and teamed along with Marek Brown to defend the tile successfully.
He made brief appearances in TNA Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, and Pro Wrestling Guerilla.
He was known as Tyler Black then and soon became a part of the ROH (Ring of Honor) along with teammates Jimmy Jacobs and Necro Butcher. In 2007, they collectively won the ROH Tag Team Championship. After losing to the then popular wrestler McGuiness, Jacobs broke the partnership with Colby (Tyler). However, in June 2008, Tyler defeated Jimmy Jacobs in a steel cage match.
In September 2009, he defeated several wrestlers like Chris Hero, Colt Cabana and Austin Aries to win the title of ROH World Championship. He defended his title seven consecutive times before losing it to Roderick Strong in 2010.
Rollins has won the Slammy Award 9 times in the WWE.
He also won awards like the Best Briefly Resuscitated Storyline, Most Painful Injury of the Year, Most Puzzling New Finisher, Most Smothered In-Ring Potential and the Runner-Up Wrestler of the Year in Rolling Stone.
Rollins won the ROH World Championship, ROH World Tag Team Championship, ROH World Tag Team Championship Tournament and the Survival of the Fittest in the ROH.
He successfully conquered the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship, FCW 15 Championship, FCW Florida Tag Team Championship and the First FCW Grand Slam Champion in the Florida Championship Wrestling.
He won the Feud of the Year, Most Hated Wrestler of the Year, Tag Team of the Year, Wrestler of the Year and was ranked No. 1 of the top 500 singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 2015.
