She was born on June 1, 1997, in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her mother Sharolyn is a nutritionist. She has an elder sister Martine Leithold and a younger brother Wolfgang Leithold. Scarlett is of mixed ancestry including English, German, Swiss, Irish and Dutch descent.

There is not much information available on the early life of this gorgeous damsel excepting that she moved to Butler, Pennsylvania when she was five years old and relocated back to Los Angeles at eleven years of age. She was homeschooled so as to enable her to pursue her modelling career along with her studies.

Eventually she became a face of Brandy Melville, a company that has more often fell under the scanner of critics for offering only single size clothing maintaining its 'one size fits most' policy. The company has been censured by critics as it offers clothing of just one size that is suitable for only slender girls and does not cater to the requirements of the vast majority of American women.

Nevertheless Brandy Melville has thrived in developing a huge customer base, particularly among young girls in the United States who go gaga about the brand and spend lavishly to garner some of the trendy clothing offered by it. The Instagram account of the brand ‘brandymelvilleusa’ that includes several pictures of Scarlett wearing their clothing has also become immensely popular with over 3.8 million followers.
