Pixie got into a relationship with Oliver Cheshire, an English model, in 2014 and they got engaged in November 2016.
She is a philanthropist and works towards the benefit of many charitable initiatives in London.
Pixie was born on 12 January, 1991 in Bromley, London. She was raised in Petts Wood and Bickley, along with her brother and sister.
Her nickname, Pixie, was given by her mother as she was cute and dainty when she was young. She was a choir member at her primary school.
When Pixie turned five, she was sent to the Italia Conti Associates Saturday school in Chislehurst. Her regular schooling started at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts when she was 11 years old. Pixie was a very bright student and was awarded a scholarship.
Pixie soon became acquainted with acting and theatre art. When her family moved to Brentwood, Essex, she snagged a role in the stage musical ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ which was a West End production. The musical was showcased at the London Palladium.
She then appeared as Louisa von Trapp in the musical ‘The Sound of Music’. Pixie’s opportunity to sing for a professional group arrived when she was 14 as she became a part of the chorus of Roger Waters’ opera, ‘Ça Ira’.
Pixie started her singing career quite early in her life. However, her breakthrough came when L. A. Reid, a famous lyricist and music executive, auditioned her. Pixie then went on to sign a contract with ‘The Island Def Jam Music Group’, a record label group, when she was fifteen.
By then, Pixie had already finished her first festival concert, held at the Isle of Wight Festival. In 2007, Pixie made her debut as a lyricist. She penned down the songs of her debut album, ‘Turn It Up’, which was produced by Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
Apart from writing songs of her own album, she has written songs for other artists too. She wrote the track ‘You Broke My Heart’ from the album ‘Overcome’ which was the debut album of Alexandra Burke. Next, she wrote a song for the band ‘Girls Can't Catch’. She then followed it up by writing lyrics for a couple of tracks for the album ‘Smoke’ which was Lisa Lois’ debut album. Selena Gomez too, has sung songs written by Pixie with ‘We Own the Night’ being one of them.
On 8 June, 2009, Pixie launched her first single, ‘Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)’. Soon after, she released the music video of the single. The new single was a chartbuster, gaining two million views on YouTube. It also secured the top position at the UK Singles Chart. Pixie was surprised and overwhelmed by the response she received post the release.
The success of her single was not confined to the UK as it became famous internationally. ‘Mama Do’ broke into the top 10 of various music charts in Denmark and France. The single sold over 200,000 copies and was stamped as a silver record by the British Phonographic Industry.
MP3 Music Awards (2007) – Pixie won her first award under the category, Best New Act.
MTV Europe Music Awards (2009) – Pixie bagged two of the awards under the categories, Best UK and Ireland Act and MTV Push Artist of the year.
The Ultimate Women of the Year Awards (2010) – Pixie was awarded the Ultimate Newcomer of the year by Cosmopolitan magazine.
